Awww Derbyjo I hope everything comes together for you in time. I'm sure it will, it's amazing how much you can get done in no time at all (that's what I'm telling myself and I'm sticking to it!).
I get married in less than 8 weeks and have got no flowers, no photographer, no rings, no favours, ceremony music & readings not yet sorted, bridesmaids dresses need fitting, need to buy bridesmaids shoes/shrugs, passports need to be applied for and then honeymoon booked. Then yesterday FIL sadly passed away and it all seems not so important now. He was elderly and his passing was expected but it is still very sad. Hopefully everthing will still get sorted eventually and we will raise a glass of something to him at the do.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
Derbyjo, where to begin?
The weight issue isn't an issue - as long as you fit in your dress you will look beautiful (wedding dresses are all incredibly slimming too because of how they fit). If you really want to lose weight, there are quick (but healthy) programmes like the Rosemary Conley one I'm on (trialists lost an average of a stone in 4 weeks, you never know, it might just work and it's not that difficult as it's just about portion size and healthy eating). Also, one of my friends did Slim Fast and lost 9lb in two weeks - the weight won't stay off but it's a quick solution that's not ridiculously unsafe (though I'll do the disclaimer that as with any weight loss regime, thou shalt consult thy doctor).
It's the tail end of the sales, so there are always back up dresses available (for you and little one), and they're not too horrifically expensive - Monsoon have some good deals, as do Debenhams.
As for the evening invites, as I've said before, we did a private facebook event, better than paper invites and very useful for the under 40s (and some over 40s too, come to think of it).
The organist is only saying your music will sound rubbish because you haven't booked them. Simple as that.
Out yourselves on the transport and kick two guests off. Put the most important (close family and friends) on there and make the others get taxis.
There's always good deals on wine - Asda do so many 3 for a tenners and M&S constantly seem to have half price offers and buy 6 bottles get 25% off.
Take deep breaths. It'll all be OK...as someone wise on here said to me, as long as you get married to your OH, the rest will fall into place.
I keep telling myself that.
I got my flowers from Hobbycraft today btw - 6 white foam roses for £3.99, so I got 30 roses and some random blue flowers, enough to make the bouquets and the buttonholes. Total cost of flowers was £26. I'm very happy with that, makes me very glad I went artifical.
Shame my washing machine decided to overheat today and ruin my favourite jumper (a ten year old handmedown from a friend...so no chance of replacing). I'm not impressed, but in the scheme of things, life could always be worse.0 -
I'm reading this thread with excitement and sadness - I had my wedding booked for March 20th but unfortunately had to cancel due to illness and under strict Doctor's orders.
I hope you don't mind me popping by every now & then to see how things are going (plus maybe I can help from time to time!)- I hope all you March brides and grooms have a beautiful memorable day xx Good Luck xx0 -
Sorry to hear that DaisyMoo...I hope all is well soon.0

DaisyMoo, that's sad. Hope you are doing ok?
My dress fitting was cancelled on Saturday- something made me think to phone up in the morning, and when I did, they said the dress hasn't arrived. I was so disappointed, and worried that it's only 8 weeks and dress isn't here yet!
Now having stress as place we were going to have photos of just us (Bride and Groom) has said no, and ned to find somewhere indoors for a few private photos! (and I'm still supposed to be revising!)0 -
Thanks Littlearfer & Ber - I'm doing ok thanks - recovery is VERY slow, but definitely getting there :0) It was sad to have to cancel everything, but I'm sure it's for the best in the long run.
Sorry to hear about the photos ber - is there any way you can discuss this with the photographer, if they are local, they will probably be able to recommend some fab places, or as a last resort, they may be able to use some nice effects on the pictures wherever you have them taken.0 -
Daisymoo, hope your wedding will be fantastic when you do have it x
Ber, that sounds really unfair for you to not be able to take photos where you wanted to!
I'm away from home this week and they are giving us huge meals. I'm trying to be good, but the cakes are just too nice to resist. My dress does have a lace up back, so I still ought to be able to fit into it....Live on £11k in 20110 -
We are finally making a bit of progress :j Today we bought OH's ring, mine on order, groom's and DS's outfit hire sorted. I've found another teapot, have 7 so far (collecting them to use as vases on the tables) and bought some more vintage teacups today (using them as candles). Bridesmaids dresses have been fitted and taken away for altering. Hair trial went well and have decided on style, just got to have another trial to get the final style.
Still loads to do: flowers, photographer, make favours/candles/seating plan, decide on vows/music, etc. Wedding is 7 weeks today :eek:Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0 -
OK, minor panic (you wouldn't guess I'm a panicker from my other messages...lol). Looks like my hairdresser/sister in law can't make it to the wedding thanks to a pregnant cat. So, she's going to teach my brother how to do my hair, he's going to practise on me, then he's going to do it on the day. Weird, I know, but it should work.
Luckily the bridesmaids are just having straight hair...I can do that myself!
How's everyone else going? I've just ordered a load of stuff from easy florist supplies and am waiting for delivery before finishing my bouquets (one done already and it's lovely).0 -
hello all...sorry for being away for so long
I had to go away with work the other week to work at the interiors show, and it was hectic lol
then its been hectic at work since I got back, and I have had to do wedding things as soon as i get home each day
i feel like i havent stopped to be honest
No major problems here to be honest, had one response to chase up on the rsvp's for 2 adults and a child, finally got them to make a decision the other day and they arent coming...which quite frankly leaves me a bit !!!!!!ed with the table plans lol so I am now deciding between inviting some one else and them being sat on a table with people they dont really know, or leave it short on people and have a half empty table....i cant decide whats best at the mo
we received button holes the other day, i got them off ebay and they are fab, we ordered loads of them for the wedding party and family Im very pleased
had my final dress fitting today, it looks amazing, and i was finally able to try everything together and it all looks so nice, i have to go and collect it next week
i have my hen do on saturday, a pamper evening and slumber partyim really looking forward to it should be fun
also we have just booked a night away in nottingham for the week before the wedding, me my oh his brother and his gf are going up for the night to do a bit of shopping, go to a hockey match and go to hooters lol just finished booking it so im excited now
i had a hair trial on friday...i hated it lol she did it curled and I looked stupid....so i am going for the straight option insteadbooked to have my hair cut 2 weeks before the wedding then on the day I will just have it straightened and wear my tiara
hows everyone else getting on with everythingMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0
