My little update -
All of my day invites have come back with only 1 couple unable to make it (the other six are coming now)so I can confirm numbers to the venue tomorrow:j
OH has chosen his ring so will order that next week to use the voucher. We went to every jewellry shop I could think of and could not find anything I wanted then came across one I didn't know existed and the perfect ring was in the window half price :T
All my bridesmaids now have shoes, after a mad dash to Liverpool on thursday
Had my hair trial and found the perfect style. Went into a shop I didnt know existed two doors down and found the perfect tiara to match. My Mum wouldnt show me the price and bought it for me :ATheres a necklace to match which the shop is lending me for next weeks dress fitting to see whether I want that too.
So moving on to the evening invites and table plan this week. Still need to decide on my readings and ask the readers too.
Have spotted this icon and it is pretty much how I feel bout choc even though I'm meant to be dieting so here it is
:EasterBun
Another long one - sorry guys0 -
Or not. I'm concerned that too many of my guests can't come, my brother might not be able to make it as he's been made redundant (to be fair, it'd cost him about £300 for the family) and another guest has had to drop out as he's going to Finland to do some work placement thing. We're down to the reserve list and it's getting closer (5th March = Day Zero).
I have no flowers yet and don't have a good supplier (doing my own artificial, live in Croydon - help?!) and haven't yet made my table decs. I haven't decided on the music for the ceremony and I still need to lose a stone to get into my dress so that it looks stunning, not just 'nice' (7lb down, but I think that might be due to the two stomach bugs I've had in the past 5 weeks). DF's mother is ill in hospital having had a mild heart attack last Saturday and I don't think any of my family (except parents) will trek across the Pennines to come to our Yorkshire wedding.
On the plus side - hen nights are sorted (one small one for close friends involving an overnight stay, and one big cheap house party for everyone!), I have dress and shoes (at £50, they're not the cheapest shoes I've bought, but they're comfortable and what I want), DF has his suit, we have ties for all the men (plus best men are getting their own hire suits from Debenhams - we just put the money in their accounts for them), the bridesmaids dresses are bought, I have jewellery for them and they're getting their own shoes, plus we have a DJ and the registrar and hotel have confirmed everything. Plus the cake's coming from Asda and I'll do the decorating myself the week before (have set aside three whole days for it).
On the balance, do you all think I'm doing OK? Is everyone sort of in the same place or am I waaaay behind? I just feel really stressed and I'm getting ill (not just because of the wedding, there are many other things at work here...). If I can be reassured that the wedding will be OK I'll be fine...
Sorry, long post, a little bit manic :eek:0 -

i dont know about anyone else but planning this wedding is making me realise how useless other people arelittlearfer wrote: »Or not. Sorry, long post, a little bit manic
oh dear you sound a bit stressed
i suggest you go and have a nice cup of tea (this is my solution to everythign lol) and maybe treat yourself to a biscuit to go with it#
you are doing really well, stop worrying about it all
we are march 5th too and i have a huge list of stuff still to do lol
i suggest you write a list of everything that needs doing (and include some things you have already done)
then tick off the things you have done and tick things off as you do them, that way you will feel better and better as you see all the ticks building upMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
Hi, we have a long 'to do' list too. One thing to tick off today, as I went to see the chaplain and have put the order of service together. We just need to add the words to the hymns, and format it in a pretty way. Going to try and print it off ourselves when it's done.
I bought my artificial flowers on ebay, plus a few from Wilkinsons. I need to do the arrangement for the chapel, now I know what size oasis to buy after today's visit! I've also booked the time for the rehersal, hopefully it will be OK for everyone who needs to be there. The best man is coming from the US and so he might not be arriving until the day before.
Still awaiting about 20 replies - they've had the invites nearly 6 months now!!! We can't do the table plans until we know who's going to be there, so they are going to get some reminders very soon...Live on £11k in 20110 -
i have been phoning, emailing and face booking people to subtly remind them about replies lol it seems to be doing the job
i have just had a message on my phone from the vicar to go and sort out the rehersal, order of service etc, so we really better think about that before we go lolMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
I am too late to join the thread? I'm 20th March!
Got dress fitting tomorrow (today, actually as it's past midnight!)- looking forward to seeing the dress again! It's so pretty!
Also revising for an exam on 3rd Feb, so have to keep stopping myself thinking about wedding things! I keep saying "after the exam....." but we have a massive list of things to do "after the exam"! H2B is trying his best to do some of them now, but I want to be involved in everyone (and some things need s female touch!)!0 -
Hi Ber its never too late to join us. My dress fitting is today too and a nice lady from the jewellery shop has lent me a necklace that matches my tiara to try.
Hope ur fitting goes well. Don't think I could be doing exam stress now. The wedding has it pretty much covered0 -
Thank you everyone. I'm calmer now...
I've written the to do list and have got a disturbing amount of pleasure from ticking things off it! Off to Hobbycraft today to look at their flowers, ribbons and pretty things so that's calmed me down too.
I've had a look at Sarah's flowers and I'm probably going to order some things off there too (they look incredibly cheap!) and as my mum's coming to visit on Friday we can go through the Wedding File (it's a behemoth of a folder so it deserves capitals) and do all the fun things.
One thing we have done that's calmed me down is set up the evening do as an event on Facebook for those who are on it. We've still sent some invitations out, but it means we get instant RSVPS, and we've set the privacy so nobody can see the event except those are invited and nobody at all can see the guest list except me and DF. Not to everyone's taste, but I think it's saved us so much in postage alone! Plus we can message the group members instantly with accommodation details etc.
Now, for another cup of tea, then to buy bridesmaids' jewellery! :beer:0 -
Would it be ok if I sneaked in to your thread, because our big day is 5 weeks away, so almost March, but your thread seems really friendly, plus you are all so organised I am sure I can make you all laugh with how little we have arranged! We sent the invites out a week ago, have a short gift list, will be getting the bridesmaid dresses a week before the wedding, my MOH will arrive the night before the wedding, I have a flowergirl dress which is 2 sizes too small, but can't find a bigger one in Debenhams, haven't contemplated flowers yet, because I don't know what colour scheme I am having until I am happy with the bridesmaid dresses, I haven't seen my dress yet since I ordered it in Sep (were going to get married in Dec, but had to postpone), have got a pair of shoes which I hope will fit.
Haven't decided on food, we are going for a tasting in a week or so, but OH is very relaxed and says no-one expects good food.
No clue as to what to do with my hair and makeup or jewellery until I see the dress on.
Haven't managed to lose the stone in weight I had promised myself.
We've got OH's ring, which we are really happy with, but not mine, awaiting a quote from the place where we got the engagement ring.
Ordered the cake, but only the size and shape, to get it made, need to decide on decoration closer to time.
Haven't actually had written confirmation that we can marry yet, although the Vicar says not to worry it'll be fine.
We can't afford the choir and organist, so some friends are playing, but the organist says that will sound rubbish!
Haven't sorted out cars yet, but do have transport for the guests, except we think that so many people are saying yes that there may not be room for everyone on the transport.
And we are hoping to supply the wine ourselves, but everytime there is a good deal on wine I get there a day too late!
We don't have any evening invites either, so I have been emailing people to invite them, promising there will be an invite at some stage!
And we have no clue about a honeymoon!
There we go, who feels better now??0
