This coming from the detective who finds The Post Office, Royal Mail cards, Royal Mail postmen and Royal Mail Depot's as having nothing to do with Royal Mail  But as you say its a common mistake ;)
Obviously a little far fetched for you though.

Nice one, from the person who has thousands and thousands of people who want to work for Royal Mail!

they knock at my door.. its enough to wake the dead..
They don't give me enough time to answer the door here when delivering parcels. They knock and walk away as soon as their hand leaves the door. Having said that our postman is lovely , I seem to give him a plaster at least twice a week as one letter box bites him every time he posts the mail, poor guy.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

Ok, how long are we talking about re your post being like this? Do you know your post persons first name? Did they ever leave you a note to say its been left in a bin? What size is your letter box? Victorian? just a few questions ;) answers on a postcard please!

why are you calling them post person? The correct term is Postman for both male and female workers in any trade. The word man comes from the end of human and is not there to decide the sex of said person but just that they are human.

Lol, no aside from the poor excuses ive read on here upto now "doorbell not working, letterbox too small, too much mail order catalogue items, no numbers on the doors" you have to remember the Postal strikes are an annual event for the postmen, it is after all coming up to xmas. I don't think I've seen a year in when they haven't striked.

They offer a !!!! poor service, then strike because they're not happy with the money, overtime, temp staff, or whatever new reasons they can think of.

I can think of thousands of people right now who are out of work, who not only would be too happy to do the job for them, for less pay and more hours, but also do a damn site better job in doing it, regardless of faulty doorbells, house numbers and sizes of letterboxes they encounter.

You do seem to assume a great deal, then make up the rest

Come come Custardy, I am usually the first to take sides with you when posters berate the posties and I am, generally on their side as we get a good service from our postman/person. You might talk about a national strike but what about the constant local action that goes on? London posties and sorting staff have been striking on and off for months and other areas (stockport, stoke etc) have also been having the odd day here and there. You can hardly blame the public for thinking that posties strike at the drop of a hat because generally speaking they do seem to, but not nationally like now. The public are getting rather brassed off by the whole thing, especially as no-one really seems to know what's going on and no-one seems to be telling the truth either.
