AA1 plumbing are very bad a providing good CS. AA1 plumbing should learn how to deal with customers. i think everyone needs to google AA1 plumbing and click on the MSE forum link that pops up. this will then make it the top of listings and anyone who is even contemplating using AA1 plumbing will get to know how rude and arrogant AA1 plumbing are.

Contacted AA1 and emailed them a link to this thread - but they never sounded even slightly concerned on the phone.

Oh well, perhaps they can afford to lose business.

I had a phone call from them at approx 1730 this evening. I said "hello, hello?" The response, I quote "you've made the biggest mistake of your life sweetheart, putting that on the internet, biggest mistake of your life". End of phone call. I do wish I had just ignored the first e-mail now.

Just to put a positive note here, I called another plumber called West and John Plumbing and Gas Services (Swansea) and explained to them that I understand if they don't do installation only but that's what I was looking for. I told him about the house and how I had worked out which boiler I needed. He was SO nice and professional sounding. He said that the boiler was a good choice and that (although they are a very busy firm) we could arrange a time for them to come around and work out what needed doing. That's it then. Plumber found.

Willista, I would regard that as a threat and I would be going to the police, giving them all the information and asking them to make a record of it.

I'm glad you've found a nice plumber, hope you get it sorted soon.

    Great outcome.

I particularly like the layout of their front page and 'Boiler Cr*ppage Scheme'

At least you got called sweatheart, also how does he know you made the biggest mistake of your life by putting it on the internet.
I have made some mistakes in my life and slagging a plumber off on the internet would be about number 847 on the list.
Number 846 was when I accidentally farted when I bent over in WHSmiths.

    See baldelectricians reply.

Of course the unit will carry manufacturers guarantees. But what if it's not suitable for the application in question?

Erm....don't plumbers talk or communicate to their potential customers?

For example I would imagine the OP did a fair bit of research before purchasing the boiler to see if it fitted their requirments, the OP outlined in the email to the plumber what type of boiler it was and what work was required.

People often get sold an unsuitable unit by a shop looking for a sale, it's human nature and happens regualrly.

i've spent the last few years wondering why all the 'tradesmen' i know are walking around flashing the cash and driving fancy cars. after the last few weeks of trying to find some decent people who'll do a good job then i've found out why - these people are charging £250-300 a day, with materials on top, probably don't pay the taxman in full (all the tradesmen i know do fiddles on cash, i sit and fume about it but don't do anything more for fear of karma) - and have the luxury of refusing jobs because they fear they won't make even more money? i love the standard lines too "no, that xxx product that you bought from exactly the same place as we would have will not do unless we buy it and charge you twice as much for it" - sheesh, it's a tough life.

personally, we have to get bummed by corporates constantly looking for cost savings, have to hand over the taxman too large a proportion of our earnings, or can face the joy of working for peanuts for people wanting the world. i definately chose the wrong career when i left school.
