It might be worth discussing with your daughter how she will handle the situation next time i.e. calling out "one moment"? Also, if she isn't happy raising this in person (and she really wants to raise this), she could draft an email to security and you could check it for her before she sends it?

I know she will have trouble telling the security guard because she really does not like to cause any trouble

Then why is she doing it?

He will also have given out cables to each and every other student in the halls. She's going to be the only one to complain.

She's going to look and sound ridiculous. Are you seriously encouraging her to do this? I know you've said that you've not brought her up to be particularly savvy when it comes to dealing with people - perhaps it's high time you started now?

Tell her to keep it to herself and get on with the job that she's supposed to be doing in the early weeks - making friends and learning what it's about being a student.

i dont think it is allowed on there first year to have there own place
Can't see how they can stop adults choosing where they live, even in their first year. Many people choose to go into halls because it's easy - the university often guarantees a place to all those who have applied by a certain date. Others know they won't enjoy the Halls experience, and it's not necessarily the cheapest option, so they'll find their own place.

You also need to calm down.

I though you said you'd taken things on boards - it certainly doesn't look that way

Just think people are giving their opinions hun . Anyhoo , ur daughter will cope in her own way , your her mum and ur very lucky shes not too busy to talk to you . Halls are easier and its a better way to make freinds..

Get her to look for accomodation early as the best places go quick. think i had mine sorted by january of the following year.

She will learn to bea growd up very quickly and will enjoy being a student and "making freinds" ;) although as a mum u probly dont wanna hear that :rotfl:

  • I can really see both sides to the story...of course its not acceptable for some guy to be in the room but chances are he knocked shouted opened the door and flung the cables in....in that sense I don't think its wrong....if she woke up and saw him at the bottom of the bed then thats different.
