Is it a good idea to wedge her door shut?
What if she became ill, or was injured in some way, and people needed to get in?
At least if she left the key in, or similar, they can still easily break the door down.
A well wedged door is very difficult to open.
Just my thoughts...
true good thinking
she shouldnt have to put herself in danger for fear off a security guard just walking inResolve not to be poor, Whatever you have , Spend less.0 -

An authorised member of staff isn't "a strange man" though. As has already been said, cleaners often just tap at the door and grab the rubbish bin.0 -

I'm afraid its just something she'll have to get used to. If its anything like my halls, she'll have the smoke alarm/heat detector in her room tested once a month at least, and its basically the same situation. Knock on the door, and unless you shout hold on, or open it yourself, they're going to come straight in*insert witty comment here*0

At 10am a proportion of students would most likely have left the halls for lectures so may not be there.
Bit different if it were at 7.30am!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

That may be the case at her university but it certainly isn't the case everywhere.0 -

If this chap had been walking into rooms before 9 am, then I wouldn't consider that reasonable. But given that he probably has several hundred of these to deliver, quick knock on the door, cable in, job done, seems like a reasonable approach to me.
I take your point about her privacy, but the chap has a job to do - giving out the cables in a timely and efficient way. We've already established that they can't be left in the communal area, and frankly my experience of students going to collect something is that they don't read the information, or can't get to wherever the thing is to be collected at the times it's available. Plus the university then has to get signatures from everyone to make sure that Fred doesn't pick up 3 and none are left for Freda.
but then I've got boys, so what would I know?
Personally, I'd take it as an opportunity to establish how she can safely secure her room while she's in bed, and move on.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

That may be the case at her university but it certainly isn't the case everywhere - I've been a student and a cleaner in halls of residence and I've not come across a set time before.0
