I'm having a problem with C+ too. Got an email yesterday saying parcel was at the shop, went to the shop today to collect it-not there and shopkeeper most unhelpful. Tried to ring Customer 'Services' to get a recoreded message saying 'sorry, we're shut, we are open mon-Fri 8-8' This was at 6pm on a Friday....

Online tracking shows my parcel has arrived at my local shop, then been picked back up and taken to the depot...so who knows where it is going now!

I've had this same problem, but i'm the sender. Apparently the shop "put it on the wrong pile" and instead of being held for collection, it was sent straight back out with the driver. IMO both the shop and the driver are at fault - for blindly zapping barcodes without actually checking what they're zapping IYSWIM. So now the parcel is being "processed at National Hub". According to Collect+ CS, I "should" get an email today/tomorrow/next week (all depending who you speak to)asking me where I want the parcel to go .
Annoyingly, the buyer(recipient) keeps getting "Collection reminders" even though the parcel is not at the shop.
So although I understand that the fault lies with the shop/driver, CS haven't been that great either - I won't be using them again.

The parcel is now 5 days late. Although I've kept the buyer up to date with what's happening, what's the betting my stars/fb get clobbered?
  • Ive only ever used Collect+ for M&M returns and they have always been okay and received.

Having problems with Collect +. I sent something via this courier and the tracking number says delivered. I sold this item on Amazon and the buyer said they have not receive the item. I checked with collect plus and they gave me a name for the person who signed for the delivery which the buyer did not recognise and complained to Amazon. Amazon refunded the buyer and took £32 pound from my credit card to pay for this. Collect plus are in the process of interviewing the member of staff that delivered the item but after 4 days I am having trouble getting an answer from collect plus. The buyer has no book and has a refund from Amazon directly, I have no book and I am £32 down because Amazon have taken the money from my credit card and collect plus are not replying, great !!!!
  • I agree whole-heartedly...I have used Collect+ for a few weeks now with no problem...good to find a local drop in service...as I sell a lot on Ebay...However last week I sent a guitar to a buyer in N Ireland and dropped off my parcel at my local depot...A couple of days later I received an email from the buyer to say he had received it but the parcel was damaged and the guitars' neck was broken and away from the body...I contacted Collect+ who originally were very sympathetic.
Once I received the guitar back I send them the required pics and form filling...Today I received an email to say that 'unfortunately on this occasion they could not help as they do not carry musical instruments...' My argument is that nowhere on the online form does it say this and in fact they show an accordian as an example of a parcel weight...I have had to refund the buyer and I'm now left with a broken guitar...DON'T USE COLLECT+ I wish I hadn't...and will continue with Parcel Force...:(

    how was it packaged?

    https://www.collectplus.co.uk/terms-and-conditions

the T&Cs do list musical instruments

bare in mind that Parcelforce only offer basic cover on musical instruments

    Articles not carried

We shall not, without specific written agreement, carry works of art, artwork, ceramics, documents of every kind including passports, deeds or tender documents, stamps, securities, vouchers, money, prescribed drugs, precious metals, livestock, liquids, perishable goods, foodstuffs, glass, bullion, coins, fossils, stoneware, precious stones, resin items, amber or composites, valuable jewellery, valuable antiques, musical instruments, plants, plant seeds or derivatives. "

Ive used collect plus about 100 times now - without problem - and they are currently delivering next day for most items.

Dispite this - i would still never use a budget courier for anything fragile or valuable. Especially if it was on their exclusion list.

I do not like Collect plus and am avoiding using them, however in fairness they, like many other couriers have quite a lot of items that they will not insure against damage.

I am planning to use MyHermes for my heavier goods in future even though , like Collect plus, virtually nothing I sell is covered against damage. It is a risk I take and I gamble on my packaging being good enough to not have to worry about damage.

For all couriers always read the exclusions.

Ive always been reluctant to try myhermes, i don't know why - but 20 parcels in and alls going well. I use them when items are too large for collect plus. Saves me waiting in for couriers that might not show.

Which brings me to onestringsteve - collect plus don't carry parcels above 500mm in length. So how did you post a guitar?
Maybe they snapped the neck to bring it within their length guidlines :D

You have to remember that C+ use Yodel for their courier. That is why they are rubbish in some areas, but not in others.
I remember the old 'DHL@Home' service. I had a parcel delivered by them that should have been delivered the previous day. When I spoke to the driver, she told me that if she only has one or two parcels for a given area, then she holds them until she has a car full before delivering.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

That made me smile, I can just see them battering the parcel until it fitted the guidelines , frankly I wouldn't put anything past Collect plus :rotfl:
