Who are you buying your currency from that will charge you more for using a Visa Debit than a Maestro?

All, or any online currency supplier that I know of charges an additional charge for using a Visa Debit Card over a Maestro.

The banks don't usually change things unless there is something in it for them.

Or possibly a better deal for the banks, we all know how greedy they are.

Greed doesn't come in to it with a business. Greed is a human affliction. You could try and assign it to a business I suppose, if you wish to be sensationalist.

More to the point, however, Visa is a better deal. It runs on a modern network with solid implementation across the world, where as Maestro runs on a collection of outdated systems, varying from territory to territory. It's easier to use, cheaper, offers greater consumer protection and significantly more flexible.

Greed doesn't apply to banks... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have just picked myself up off of the floor, still laughing at that one.

BM, you really need to get back on to the real world planet.;)

I am sure that is the banks line on the move over to Visa, however I am far too cynical to believe that tosh.

Greed is a desire. Since when is a non-sentient entity such as a business capable of desire?

Wait, don't bother, we both know you're not capable of answering anything such as this without some sort of Daily Mail-esque vitriol. ;)

BM, I think that if you asked a random sample of the population if they thought that the the banks were greedy, the overwhelming majority would agree with me that they are.

BTW, I don't read the Daily Mail, I also don't work for a bank, so my view is less blinkered than yours.

If you honestly believe that the banks are not guilty of greed, then you need some help.

And what the majority believe is relevant how? You're failing to address the point an entity is incapable of desire.

You are just playing with words, the banks have been greedy.

To attempt to deny this fact is futile and immature.
  • \66 csn you link to an online place that charges more.. you say "most", yet I have never been charged a transaction fee at all when I buy... just sometimes postage. Credit Cards obviously yeah but not VISA DEBIT.

Not doubting at all, just want to add them to my mental "avoid list".

It's the BANK that adds the charge in the case of most (but not all) visa debit cards. There's a list buried in the Transport and Travel section linked at the top of this page of those who do and those who don't.
