Nationwide to remove support for Microsoft money

I wouldn't be uploading my statements to some bloke's site, even though it's probably done with the best of intentions.0

Thanks very much rpb424. I had already found MT2OFX before I came across this post but had no idea I could automate the process so much. Now rather than saving the csv, opening the program, converting it to OFX, opening Money and importing it through the menu I can do it all, like you said, in two clicks for each account.
It makes it all suddenly workable and I no longer have that sinking feeling when I realise I ought to update Money.
Great credit to Colin Smale too, who created the converter.
Needless to say, two fingers to Nationwide for making all of this necessary - the money integration was one of the big things stopping me from looking about too hard for a better deal for my accounts. Now it's gone there's nothing to stop me following it out the door - a very poor decision on their part.0 -
Glad that it helps!
As I mentioned in my post 2nd down on Page 4 of this thread, Nationwide aren't really to blame for this, its two fingers up to Microsoft really.0 -

I disagree. They knew this had been coming for months. They chose to give only a month notice and they chose not to add any functionality on to their existing service.
They could (if they'd cared) have offered qif downloads which is a similar format to csv and would only have taken their software team a small amount of time to implement.
As has been said many times on this forum, Nationwide has lost sight of the ball.0 -
When I try toopen the MT20FX file I get: Microsoft VB Script run time error. Using XP. Is there a way around this? I've looked through all the posts.0

Havent tried your script, but all is working fairly well, except I'm still getting loads of duplicates with the (gold reward) credit card. Dont get them with the flexaccount tho.
The credit card asks for confirmation of which account, but flex doesnt - why/how?, is this why flex is sorting out the duplicates? or is it because the credit card statement has different dates? (sorry, thinking aloud here).
Am i missing something, because i cant seem to select any dates for the credit card csv, it just gives me what it wants, so im stuck with the duplicates.
BTW, the credit card download (and pdf) doesnt contain the unique id that the printed statement does, so it is not a complete replacement - makes the paperless option less attractive.
Actually having thought mine was working OK, I'm also getting some duplicates coming through. In my case it's the other way round - today I did downloads from Flex & Gold Credit Card - the credit card download only imported "new" transactions, but the Flex download imported a couple of new transactions but also some from 1st November which had already been downloaded previously. As they are Direct Debits, Money then tries to match them to the December entries & I have to unmatch them then delete the duplicates. Teething problems or am I going to have to start specifying from & to dates (which is what I wanted to avoid)? If rpb424 reads this can you advise?0 -
Like everyone else, I have relied on the background banking facilities for years now.
I used it every day and last year in the USA, it even detected fraudulent transactions on my credit card account which I was able to cancel immediately. If I had not had this facility I would not have been able to spot the fraud until I received my paper statement some weeks later.
I will now reinstate paper statements until the Nat reinstates background banking.0 -

I think Microsoft were very shortsighted in discontinuing Microsoft Money and Nationwide even more shortsighted in stopping OFX simply because they no longer wanted to support it. Just because you refuse to help people directly with a service doesn't mean you should completely discontinue it for all the people it does work for!0 -
PC Pro did actually write a letter and create an email petition to Microsoft trying to get them to release a new version, afterall they have new versions in America
I cant post a link yet so Google pc pro ms money rebuff for the full story.0
