Some companies have migrated from 084 to 034 numbers and many more will be forced to once the provisions of the Consumer Rights Directive have passed into law. A smaller number have migrated from 087 to 037 numbers. In some of these cases, although the 03 number has already been activated, it hasn't been publicised.
Whenever you see a number beginning 084 or 087, replace the 8 with a 3 and dial the rest of the number exactly as before using the same digits as found in the remainder of the original 08 number. In some cases you'll get through and in others you'll just hit an error message (at no cost).
03 numbers are charged at the same rate as 01 and 02 numbers. If you have inclusive calls to 01 and 02 numbers, these "free minutes" also cover 03 numbers.Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers will soon need to display details of the inbuilt Service Charge under Ofcom's "unbundled tariffs" plans.
Businesses using 084, 087 or 09 numbers for customer service, complaints, renewals, etc, will need to swap to an 01, 02, 03 or 080 number before the Consumer Rights Directive comes into effect June 2014.0 -
I want to call an 0800 tel number in Germany. However this is not accepted when I call 0 18185 0030 0800 ......
Does anyone know how I can dial this for free from my home phone. At present I use 18185 18866 as prefixes on standard numbers0 -
I doubt you can. It's common for NGNs to be barred from international dialling because the originating telco doesn't know what the cost will be.
Having said that, I have succeeded using 18185 with a USA 1-800 number.
BTW, the international code for Germany is 49, not 30 (that's Greece).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

0180.info provides alternatives to German 0180 numbers. Perhaps it might help for the company you are trying to ring.0 -
