TalkTalk don't, they change exactly the same for 0870/0845 as for 01/02/03 numbers, and include them in inclusive/free calls. I thought all landline providers did?
My works mobile also charges same for 0845/0870 as 01/02/03 numbers.
I suppose there is always the exception to the rule, (like Gifgaff being the only ,to my knowledge, sims supplier to include 0800 numbers as free).
Which mobile network charges the same for 0845/0870 as landline calls?

Vodafone, at least on my company's corporate tariff. 0845/0870/0800 treated exactly the same as 01/02/03 (bit of a rip-off charging for 0800 though).
PlusNet also charge 0870/0845 exactly the same as 01/02/03.
Post Office as well I think (at least they include them in free evening/weekend calls)0 -

Maybe on your companies corporate tariff, but most on here will be public customers, and whilst Vodafone do charge the same, it is a hefty 35ppm for pay monthly, and 21ppm for PAYG.

35ppm  What a rip-off, do people really pay that??
My wife has a Vodafone PAYG mobile on the old SmartPlus tariff, I thought that was incredibly expensive in the daytime but it's less than 35ppm which people on monthly contracts pay!
I guess there's still a need for saynoto0870 then (I've taken it out of my favourites:))0 -

I have a Virgin PAYG on a DD tariff, it also charges 35ppm to call landlines and mobiles, am not to bothered about it as I rarely use it and the credit on the sim was free via this site, I also have a Virgin PAYG on the "8p tariff" where all calls and texts are 8ppm.

Yes, the reason she's still got SmartPlus is nothing can touch it for off-peak use, which is 99% of her use. I think it's 5ppm but it's capped at 3 mins for an hour, so she can talk for an hour but will only pay for 3mins ie 15p. Also roaming is quite good as it's 75p plus home rate.0 -
http://www.saynoto0870.com has saved us loads of money.
I am with the old Tiscali package with TalkTalk and they charge for 0845 and other 08xx numbers at all times.
With SayNoTo 0870 we have been able to find freephone, 01, 02, 03 numbers; 99.99% of the time.
Our Voip account comes with free calls to UK landline numbers (and many other countries)
These days our telephone bill is tiny.
many thanks MSE for for this GR8 tip :T0 -
I tried to ring HMRC today to tell them that my tax coding is entirely wrong and they seem to have ignored/not received my previous letter explaining this.
I used the international number (starting 01) as recommended on the sayno site, only to be told by the operator that I wasn't allowed to. She said normally she would refuse to take the call but as it was we would get cut off which we did. She said I needed to use the 0845 number.
As they don't let you email, I have the choice of sending letters which don't receive any attention or paying a fortune for calling 0845. And this is a public service.
Anyone else come across a refusal to accept calls on "the international number"?0 -
I am surprised they knew you had come through on the international number, unless they have a dedicated line for this. Normally all calls, regardless of what number you ring come through on the same switchboard.
Take a day trip to Calais and ring them from there :rotfl:Thank you for reading this message.0 -
I've had the odd comment from people who somehow knew my call was from within the UK. But refusing to take the call? That's incredible, but perhaps an indication of the depths to which HMRC have sunk since the merger of Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise.0
