We had a letter a couple of months back regarding early get since then it hasn't happened. Depends how busy they are I believe. If it goes the full 12 months, it will just show on the insolvency website as discharged automatically. I think some people have letters and some haven't. I am not expecting it early now, as it wouldn't make any difference anyway, it is just psycological (?) really.
Darnit,
We are in N.Ireland but our OR told us that he was happy to send out a letter if we wanted. He asked me to remind him via email (he has really been brilliant to us during this bankruptcy year) but when I did remind him, the letters were already on their way.
I gather they may help if your credit reference files are not up to date or correct.
Not sure if anyone else had experience of Tesco Equiniti shares but they have been really bad. Sadly we were given incorrect advice from our CAB advisor and were told that the OR would not be interested. Sadly he was very interested, and the company has now just informed the OR (In Sept 10) that my OH has some locked in shares, given in ? 2008/2009 that will not mature until 2011 & 2012. BUT because they were allocated to OH before bankruptcy, Insolvency Service have a right to them and have to wait until they mature.
Its so annoying as it feels like that matter is not really resolved. If only we had been given the 'right' advice by the CAB!! OH well, cant have everything.:mad:0 -

Quick update: AD today for hubby & I, which is a step in the right direction but beneficial interest in our home not yet resolved which has taken the shine off a little.
best wishes to all0 -
Congratulations gonebellyup!
Jubbly1968, we had the same conversation yesterday about "our age" and lack of security/assets. "C'est la vie" eh?
We sometimes just walk the dog and think about what we have got, ie each other, lovely kids (who haven't had to find out our little secret thank goodness), great family dog etc.
We played a game of "if we won the lottery last night, what would we do/buy. You know what, most of what we want is achievable, albeit it will take longer than if we won the lottery
.

Darnit,
Sounds like I need you guys as my life coach lol!??? Fancy the v.difficult job? lol.
I remember seeing a counsellor in 2003. She asked me and OH to write down when the last time we felt happy and what made contributed to that. OH wrote all things you described and Im v. ashamed to admit, mine were more materialistic!! Makes me sound shallow but not to start thread on 'blaming parents etc' but I think mine comes from doing without as kids and when we had the money, esp with all the perks of my job (when I was able to work), I just went mad and sadly I still get a high from spending - although I recognise it now and "step away from the shops", leave the purse alone and let OH take me shopping!!! At least I can recognise it now and tell OH before I start.
OH & I were talking & we are just gutted that we had to lose our lovely new house (that was nearer OH's work, pals etc), & are now living in a large rented that is too expensive really, re rent and utilities are outrageous (we live in NI so have little choice of utility provider). But with 4 dogs, that we dont want to part with (as they are our family), we have little choice.
Its a private rent from a pal & needs so much doing to it (but its a bit more complicated than want to share on here).
We are only just AD but already seemed to have accrued debts on our elec, rates (ie m/land council tax) and phone! They are not huge amounts but any debt petrifies us and makes us both feel like losing our house and everything was for nothing! - dont know if anyone else feels like that? OH doesnt earn an awful lot, Im too unwell to work and we just feel a bit stuffed again. We are budgeting as much as we can but maybe i need a good trawl through this website to see if can further budget where ELEC and BT Phone/Broadband concerned. As already said, live in NI so our choice of diff providers rather limited!
We also lost a good bit of money in a real balls up by OH, when we were going to move to another rental, signed contracts etc then things werent right with new place, OH had huge wobble and refused point blank to move and we lost lot of money that way. Entirely 'his' fault  but it sort of makes me sad that we are AD but still have mini debts. Sorry Im having a very "glass half empty" time at the moment!!!
Any suggestions gratefully received. Also any suggestions for suitable punishments for OH also gratefully rec'd lol. He is a painter by trade but does different job here. But he is always so tired that he doesnt have time to paint in this house, which would improve things for me. Before peeps sugg Im being lazy, I have physical probs that prevent me from doing the painting, although I have tried, believe me! Soz everyone, just needed a little vent and a whinge.0 -
Hello everyon, nearly 3 years since I last posted. Just wondering if anyone who went BR same time as me is still posting? I also thought for teh newbies a little encouragement might help.
When I look back at my posts over 3 years ago, it does bring a little tear to my eye, it was a really hard time for me emotionally. However, here I am 3.5 years later.
I still have my family,
I still have my home,
I still have my job which is quite well paid,
I have a credit rating which is 'good' and just tying up loose ends from our complicated affairs.
Finished our Income payments agreement of £1000 per month.
Kids (now teenagers) never found out,
Have a credit card (well in control for credit reference purposes)
Have sensible credit union account for emergencies and savings.
Have a nice life.
I cant say it has been easy, but we know know lots of people far worse off than us, with property portfolios in negative equity and not enough money to pay the mortage, only for us, we moved on at the right time and the 3 years paying for our mistake is over.
Moral of the story, value what is important, get good advice, do what you need to do and get on with it, and if on an IPA, think of it as a 3 year loan repayment. Don't tell lots of people, you don't have to explain yourself, helps you move on after it is over rather than being labelled a 'bankrupt'. And most importantly, look after your health, your family and dont bottle things up.
Good luck to all you new people and if any of this club are still hanging aorund, let me know how you are getting on?
