Check out MY signature . How good is that, just glad I didn't wait up for the fanfair on the IS service showing discharged eh?
Thanks to everyone for all the support. Going to stick around for a while whilst clearing up credit files and sorting out few other matters, which don't all disappear with the discharge date. But generally, life is better than this time last year.;) Strange thing is, I currently still own everything I did last year but I am better off even with an IPA.

Hi darnit, Sorry I havent been on forum in ages. Me and OH Automatically discharged on 01 Oct. I think i remember somewhere on this forum, a list of things to do with your credit reference record etc post being discharged? Or am I imagining it?
Re bank accounts: Im surprised so many people have been lucky and got new accounts. All we want is an account with a cheque book as we enter lots of dog comps and you need to send cheques with everything etc.... We currently have a Coop Cashminder and the guy on the phone told me that we wouldnt be able to upgrade to even a basic account until our "6 years on credit record" time is up. I think this seems rather harsh as we have been with them 9mths before the bankruptcy Oct 09 and throughout and have an excellent banking management record (to quote one of their members of staff!!)
Have others had this experience? I thought I had read that forum members had been able to open new accounts and the guy at Coop didnt believe me!!!
Thanks darnit and anyone else who might know the answer to my query. Apologies if my questions already covered elsewhere - been a long time off forum and having a very blonde day.....Lisa0 -
Apologies to Darnit and others. Just found the main info thread about sorting out your credit file etc...
Would still be interested in finding out about other peoples' experiences with bank accounts if they dont mind?
Many thanks & well done to everyone in the BR Oct 09 club who already discharged. The time seems to have flown by but I do have a very selective memory!!!

Well done on your AD
The chances of getting an account with a cheque book is slim to none, it will be quite a while before a bank will be willing to let you have this type of account I am afraid. :pB&SC No. 298

Just wanted to say hi to the OCT 09 club. We are both waiting for AD at the end of Oct. Beneficial Interest in our home not sorted out yet but at least AD will be one step in the right direction to putting Bankrupcy behind us.
As ever thank you to everyone on this forum for wonderful support and information.

Just had my OR telephone interview.......all ok untill he said he was unhappy with the amount we are paying on our mortgage and second charge. Will get a decision today if they will make a move to make us sell the house and move into rented.
Should know around 2pm.
Bricking it is an understatement0 -

Many thanks dojoman for replying to my question. I suspected as much re accounts but was surprised to read on one thread that some people have been lucky and opened new accounts etc. Maybe I misread the entries.
We were lucky and went for the Co-op Cashminder account so got a debit card anyway. I know it is an electron card (although Co-op have strangely changed all their cards to say "Visa Debit" (??), even though ours is still an Electron card! (They couldnt explain why). I know there are still a few places that do not take Electron but we have found it so useful, especially as we live out in rural area and away from a Co-op branch if we were left just having to withdraw cash, like I believe you have to do with Barclays?
Thanks again for the info. I will have to keep paying for competitions with postal orders then. It just irritates me when Royal Mail add their 10%. But cant have everything - Im just feeling fed up and it just feels like losing our house & other things & having a hellish time with finding somewhere to rent etc was enough payback for me getting ill, losing my job, getting into serious debt etc etc. Im struggling to see bankruptcy discharge as something positive as this year has been awful for us and at our age, me and OH feel like we should have achieved something etc, rather than the negative life we have now. The thought of 6 more years of renting just depresses me even more.
No doubt there will be those who think I should shut up and count myself lucky that got a fresh start but it doesnt feel that way for us due to me not being able to work etc etc:(
All I want is a cheque book for competition entries! Could ask a pal to write cheque out but dont want whole of dog comp community knowing my business
Before any CBT gurus out there say that im "Personalising" everything, I know I am. Sorry Folks 'Very bad health day' which = 'Whingey Feeling Sorry for myself' day!!!!!
Any 'Positive thoughts' gratefully received from the 'half glass full' peeps out there!0
