Hubby and I have both had contact from the OR office by e-mail and post. Surprised to find that we are being dealt with by different OR offices. We have each been asked to provide a little bit of additional info by e-mail, basically about the proceeds of our house sale in 2007 but have been told in our letters that neither of us will be interviewed at this time.
I have no idea whether any of that is good or bad or what to expect next and I'm still just as anxious about the whole thing.
Have a good weekend all
gonebellyup,
Have you tried emailing your OR to ask about the interview etc. I spent a couple of days worrying as ours too did not tell us if we would have an interview and I just emailed OR and checked if he was happy to receive emails.
we were lucky as OR very friendly and everything sorted by email. OR confirmed that at this stage no interview (either by phone or face to face) required :T
We were so relieved and it has really helped us to move on a bit and start to feel relieved like we are getting our lives back... Give it a try. OR can always say no if they dont want email communication. Good luck Lisa x0 -
Just wanted to update everyone and thank everyone for all the support and help on here. It has really helped me to get over my feelings of OH and I being the only people to have no choice but 'bankruptcy'.
As I mentioned to gonebellyup. We only had to provide OR with a bit of written info. CAB advisor kept laughing (in support) of how organised and anal I am about paperwork. Well it seems to have worked in this case (And CAB advisor help invaluable) and our OR has confirmed that he does not require any interview with us at this stage.
He was so helpful and patient in answering all my emails and when i emailed to ask what to do about the creditors' solicitors letters we're are still receiving via post, he put it wonderfully "those companies and debts are nothing to do with you or OH anymore so please destroy them as you want to, and worry no more". So it seems we are bankrupt. We were very lucky and our co-op account did not get frozen so all DD's paid.
We have had a couple of particularly bad months financially as we get used to budgeting and have hit problems with the car & boiler breaking down and us unable to just 'put it on the credit card'. This week we are literally down to our last couple of pounds until Friday. Good luck to everyone else going through the process, Lisa xx0 -
Sorry all, just wanted to add that hope my post didnt sound like i was gloating. I know the OR process does not go as well for some. We realise we have been very lucky.
We still have to face the time if our house sells at all. I asked the OR what he does but he said that as we had surrendered the house to the mortgage company, they would deal with any sale and be in contact with us about it. Does this sound right to others? I really must read all the booklets ive been sent again!
Good luck to everyone who is not having such an easy time with OR as us.... Lisa x0 -

Hi Lisa
Thank you for that. We have had all communication from the OR by e-mail with hard copies of the key letters sent to us in the post. The letters stated we would not be interviewed at this stage and we provided the extra information requested (about proceeds from the sale of our house in 2007) by e-mail. Now we just need to wait for the OR office to do their 'thing' and decide what if anything they will do about our house, cars and bank account etc. Just to say I really understand about only having a couple of pound for the week, I'm finding that tough & relentless.0 -
Hi gonebellyup,
Sorry to hear things tough for you as well - this budgeting takes some getting used to after years of relying on a huge overdraft and credit cards!!! The whole point i suppose. I feel really vunerable in case one of the dogs gets sick out of hours as vets cost fortune even though have insurance.
Re OR: Ive been surprised how slow the process is re them informing creditors. I asked ours if we would be kept informed and was told no, as the debts were nothing to do with us anymore??? He told us about the car pretty early on in the process.
I know im repeating myself but Im shocked at how different everyones experiences are. Maybe its where we live - who knows. Our CAB advisor kept reminding us that OR gets little money (in the scheme of things) so wont do as much as I expect - Good luck with news on the house and cars etc... We surrendered our house in May but still havent heard anything although we did get a call from our solicitor saying that someone had enquired about the house in Jun/July.
As we were in negative equity, can anyone confim what happens if/when house sold?? Cheers Lisa x0 -
Went BR on 19 October. Was really nervous and worked up but it was much easier than I thought - filling in the paperwork and finding the fees was the hard part! It is really nice to read of everyone's experiences on here - and nice to know I am not the only one finding the budgeting hard! But see 2010 as a new start!0

Thats pretty quick, did you have your case transferred to the RTLU? Im just wondering (part hoping for early discharge!) but think it will be up to the RTLU now not the OR but could be wrong. Still the first 5 months have flown by and a lot happier than I was before BR!0
