I know this doesnt relate to posting personal info but I was really surprised when I went on the insolvency website to see my BR entry. How can they get away with full name, address, date of birth and job title isnt there some data protection? I no that creditors need to be able to identify you but anyone could use those details to clone an identity they wouldnt get any credit lol but still quite worrying!

I agree... Data Protection Act 1998 should extend to protect ALL personal financial details . Such sensitive info should be accessible only via credit reference agencies & certainly not for worldwide public viewing.

.....LOL now if the Insolvency Service are reading this they may wish to look into the legalities & let me know ....when I go BR I intend to take it further ;):D:D
  • Id like to take it further wouldnt no where to start, you're right should be a similar thing to credit reference agencies just seems crazy to me when you're constantly warned about protecting yourself online not giving out personal details! My job role makes me very easily recognisable as not many posts exist in the UK if I had known would have been more generic about it!

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday! At least it doesn't seem to come up on Google, but I don't want anyone being able to find my address. I noticed some entries don't have it listed - I wonder if there's a way to request it taken off?

Is there any codes on the letter they sent? sounds to me like you have a simple straightforward case & you've filled your forms in with enough information to explain why you decided on bankruptcy.....it sounds like they dont need to either see you or telephone you yep...

    well done..

  • thanks phil lets hope so, its is pretty straightforward, I don't have any property or assets, and im not working at the moment im pregnant so hopefully it is pretty straightforward, all the debts are really old debts from years ago at least 5 years or so, they did give me a couple of forms to send back just to allow them to get details from teh inland revenue and other details, and to sign adn send back a form to say ive had all this and the bankrupt details, does that all sound right to you ?

    thanks

  • Well had the OR interview very nice lady, it was fairly straight forward I had all large amounts highlighted so could answer questions on what it was used for. Regarding SOA she was very helpful and encouraged me to add more! Her opinion was that CB should be for the child so allowed me to include more than one extra curricular activity also the amounts were fairly generous for things like groceries and my car. Looking like I wont have an IPA which is a relief, lasted 30 mins and like everything else in bankruptcy not as bad as i was expecting she even sypathised over my ex and lack of financial support!

The co-op are still causing me probs, lost the ID i took in 2 weeks ago and now have to start again with new application!! So off to start a barclays application and will see which arrives first.

Glad the Interview went so well for you. Im sure you are sooo relieved. Its a shame that the Co-Op are causing so much probs for you. I suppose it depends on the different branches. Im not sure how the Barclays account compares but good luck with it all.
