    hi all,

forgive me for a self indulegent post but i am posting before i read back, which i will do.

i know it has been spoken about many times, but would love some comments on controlled crying/the kind sleeping plan/or any other kind of sleeping plan. i am just looking at options for me.

bubs is six months (although poorly at the minute) and i am thinking i need to try and get her better settled with her sleep.

r.mac - i like the way you described what you are doing with your gorgeous little one, as you are like me and nurse to sleep, but i know your little one started sleeping through. any suggestions for me in getting her to stay asleep once asleep???

i am not expecting to have her go down at 7pm and stay asleep to 7am. I'd be happy with a five hour stretch at least.

off to catch up, but hugs to all that need them at the minute

    xx
    Hi AF,
I tried CC with Aston when I took the dummy off him, it was quite surprising how quick he took to it, but he was only about 6 months old.
I should of tried it with the night wakings but I was staying at my mums alot and couldnt do it there.
One thing I will say is if you are going to do anything like that, you have to stick with it and persevere or it wont work.
It is tiring for the first few days and you might find you are getting less sleep than you are now but it wont be forever.
I think it's usually sorted within a week.
I have seen tracey hogg baby whisperer recommended alot.

I understand what you mean :D

before she became poorly, she was having a small breakfast (half a wheatabix/baby cereal of some sort), lunch (veg with cheese and half a small jar of a pudding or fruit) and dinner (would be meat with veg and rest of pudding or yoghurt). she was having some milk inbetween but she is not a major fan.

protein being added to lunch and dinner meals was a suggestion by the HV.

to be honest, i think she wakes for the sake of it, although at the minute, teething is an issue.

i have started to give her water during the night instead of milk as i know she is not waking out of hunger.

i nurse her to sleep so she does not go off on her own. i have no problem nursing her to sleep if she would then stay asleep.

    happy to hear opinions/suggestions/experiences :D
That may be where the issue is.
If she is falling asleep on the breast, everytime she comes into light sleep and isn't onthe breast she wakes up fully iyswim?
I may be wrong though, but that is usually the case, with DS1 he got into the habit of sucking a bottle to sleep so would wake up for that reason, he was sometimes drinking 3 or 4 full 9 oz bottles during the night so at 18 months I just didnt buy any milk one day so there was none in the night, he had water and after a while didnt wake as much, it was only when I got with OH that he fully came off his bottle (about 3.5 years old!)

  • Aimee never had cradle cap but Caitlyn has a touch of it... It's starting to flake off on it's own now... I've never used anything other than water on her when she's had a bath....

Just rang the bank... Actually got through to someone in this country.... makes a change!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I've just had a worrying morning :( I posted the other week about my husband having a viral infection, well it didn't totally clear up. We tried to het him to the doctors but no appointments till monday. So i said maybe you should go to the emergency gp as he was really wheezy and coughing badly but he said i'll see how i get on tonight. So this morning around 6am I woke up to find him struggling to breathe and looking really wierd. I asked him if he was ok, obviously not as he couldn't breath so I had to call for an ambulance. They took him to hospital, the defibulator thing helped a lot but they still took him in and did x-rays and tests etc. All we've been told is its from the infection from viral thing and has been given an inhaler to use, but if it gets that bad to call 999 again.

I had a mad panick to get elliot dressed/fed and had to get my dad to pick us, drop elliot off at my sisters (never left him before so this was bit hard for me too) and then get to the hospital.

Thankfully he's back home now, and i've told him to tell me if he feels bad again so we can do something about it before it gets too bad. I thought he was going to stop breathing all together, very scary.

Elliot was fine with my sister and his cousins, didn't miss me at all. I'm glad though, wouldn't want him to be too clingy to me as i'll have to leave him at some point.

    Phew! xx

Try the oil on the head, it works! Just let it soak in overnight or during the day and backcomb it off, Keira had V bad cradle crap, the whole crown of her head had scabs, before I did that, when she fell asleep in my arms, I'd sit and pick some of the scabs off....but then I'm sick like that like to bite toenails and pick other peoples scabs.....I draw the line at poppin plooks though!

I'd like to see too Weezl :)

AF, you probably don't want to hear from me lol... I tried controlled crying a little with Aimee on the health visitors advice... It didn't work... She cried until she was sick... I decided after that that there was a reason she was awake and she just wanted the extra reassurance that I was there... (I stopped feeding her in the night at 9 months when she was still waking every 90mins-2hours) Sometimes she needed a cuddle in the night, sometimes she didn't want picking up, but a bum pat would be enough... I just went through it all with her and eventually, she didn't need me to go in...

I also think some children need the sleep more than others... Caitlyn sleeps an awful lot more than Aimee ever did... Although she's gone back to waking twice in the night...

I don't feel very well :( Started with a little tickle at the back of my nose and now I have a rotten head ache, sore throat etc... :(

(Incidentally, anyone else here have their tonsils out but feel like they still get half a tonsilitis? My soft palate feels like it used to when I got tonsilitis and it really hurts!)
I have had the misfortune of having tonsilitis about 5 times since having mt tonsils removed
They cant remove all the tissue, and incidently can grow back too!

Sorry to hear that Keely, hope OH gets better! Men always leave things to last minute....

Got that celidah at 7 tonight, bring your booze and food if you want...I don't want to appear a fat bleeper, but I know fine I'll be starving by 10! Yet I don't wanna bring grub and fruit hidden in my handbag just won't do if I've been drinking (and also have no fruit in anyways)

Keira is just away to go to my mums soon, so gives me about 7hours to get myself moving and ready. Tesco shop is due between 12-2. Cats will be pleased, Ive ran out of wet food and they are pestering me non stop. It's not like they don't have dry food down!

Oh gag I just caught the cat licking congealed fat from the bottom of my grill pan. Surely they can't want wet food THAT badly.

AM, when you getting your doggy? (I read some of your posts in the pet forum, they are like vigilante nazis over there) Don't buy a dog EVAH!
