i found a load of damp and mould in our bedroom yesterday, wiped it off and its come up again overnight
i asked what they thought about it on the property board and the general consensus was to have the heating on more and/or ask for a dehumidefier. not good for our bills, plus its only been on for half an hour in which time i've been just sat on my sofa lazing, and i'm sweltering! god knows how hot its going to be when i get up and move around! its a stupid old house with no bl00dy thermostat :rolleyes:Mummy to

do you not get double the TC's in the first year of the childs life though? if so, isnt it worth it to be assessed on this year rather than next as you will get more being on a lower income?
so when i get the award notice it will based on last years income, ring them then with this years income, which will be a lot less because of mat leave. then we should get more for this than if i waited till next year to use the lower amount...because we get extra for the child being under 1??
think i can feel a call to the tax credits coming whe we get the letter. lol!!
its all very confusing....'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

saw your thread over there while i was skimming through.
we got told to put chalk in the room where the damp is as it soaks up the moisture in the air. a lot cheaper than a dehumidifier and cooler than having the heating on.
it defo works by the way.'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
i may be wrong, but i *think* you get double the award when the child is under one, whether your assessment is based on the previous year or the current year.
when i used entitledto to work out what we'd be getting next year, it came up with the same amount, cos we are getting the double award for a baby under one and next years assessment was based on this years poxy earnings. its all so confusing!!
i will definitely try the chalk thing, thank you! there is a chalf cliff nearby so i think i will be visting there shortly

Claire, have txt you :A
Glam, tax credits are back dated to birth as long as you get it in within 93 days of baby's birth. You only get more than the basic is your household income has gone down to less than £32k (when you have one baby, anyway). Ours didn't, and our TC monthly amount was actually decreased by a few pounds once I told them my income had gone down by £15k!
Physio's still happy with Rhys. She can't feel any resistance in his legs so thinks it was just him tensing up for the consultant  She said he's doing over and above what a 21wk old should be doing in parts and he's making good progress in everything else - "you wouldn't know he was prem"He gave it a good go at sitting up on his own for her - grrr.. wouldn't do it for me and probably won't again for a while after today!
He's screaming at me to play now - physio's did note he needed a lot of attention!
Best go..0 -

Em, a 1:10 solution of tea tree oil and water sprayed on, left for a while and wiped off, done a couple of times a day, should kill the mould, and then you can focus on getting rid of the damp. Dehumidifers are fantastic, or chalk soaks up some moisture from the air.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Hello - just sneaking on whilst Liam is asleep and hubby makes use of the free gym. It's lovely here although hell of a wallk, up hills, to get to the pool
Liam seems to like the water but I can't seem to time it right and he always falls asleep on the way up
Anyway, have I missed much?0 -

I have made an executive decision to have my haircut/styled. I have an appointment for 1:30pm and I feel sick with panic. I'm 28 and i've never had my haircut and never been to a hairdresser before. I have occasionally trimmed a couple of inches off my hair over the years but thats it. I'm so scared, its worse than going to the dentist.
I always thought I was a bit like Samson - you know, with my special powers in my hair - that just sounds weird doesnt it?
Well, i'm a big girl now and need a new grown up look ready for going back to work. I havent told hubby so he's going to be in for a shock when he gets home!!Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0
