Hi everyone, i was feeling quite positive this morning. Untill my nightmare neighbour ran up to me on my way to town-shouted at me, gave me a load of verbal abuse then asked for a fight with me. She then told my husband in town that she'd rip my head off if i went near her. Lovely. So another trip to police station to report that and not getting much help really. I think it's going to take her actually assaulting me for them to take action :( I had Elliot with me, and she had her two kids with her (young children too) so obviously she's so stupid she'd beat me up infront of them. I got my phoneo ut and told her i was ringing the police and to back off.

What a lovely way to end my week!

    keely.

Sorry you're having such a carp day Glam! X

Good luck for Charlie Caz. XXX

Sami, if you're contemplating getting rid of dummies he needs to see it go, then he won't ask for it back. I have done this 5 times before and never once did any of them get upset. Bens was put on the kitchen window sill with the window open when we had lunch and 'a bird' stole it, whipped it out the window while his back was turned! He insisted he could see it in the tree and for 2wks after he saw it every time we went out but it never even crossed his mind to ask for the spare. Might have been his age though as it was just before his second birthday!
Too many children, too little time!!!
    :p

 My CM's house was super clean - her cream carpet was spotless
she told me that she cleans everywhere everyday and cleans the loo everytime a child has used it (hmm I barely manage once a week :o)
Chris loved it there and wasn't phased that during the day he was one of 2 or 3 toddlers (he was the youngest one she looked after) and then after school there was loads of them!

Personally, I think that is ridiculous. I would have told her at that point that I didn't pay her to be obsessive about her toilet bowl and to get a grip and look after the children in her care (and probably removed my child :o).
But I guess we all want different things from childcare same as we all approach parenting.

MFD, oh ok then the puree thing(don't you hate it when people say don't ask and then tell you anyway?)

solids are going fairly well variety-wise ( he even tried taramosalata, brave lad!)

But quantity we're struggling. 4 diddy mouthfuls seems to be his boredom threshold with any food or mealtime. (Unless bigger children are eating/watching, in which case loads is consumed:confused::D). He's dropped 18oz of formula, and replaced it with 8 diddy mouthfuls a day .

So lovely DH discovers that the only thing which makes more solids go down is to sing for about an hour, waiting til an open-mouth smile happens, and quickly popping in a new mouthful :D

Head, shoulders, old macdonald and wind the bobbin up soon give way to a bit of Bon Jovi or REM sung in a nursery rhymish voice as DH exhausts his repetoire...

    Happy days :)

just a phase, just a phase just a phase!

Feeding can take an age here too but I just go with the flow...I am sorry to say either feeding Benjamin in the kitchen whilst I cook for me and hubby or clean around or in front of the TV which I hate but it gets the job done.
Have you tried going a bit more lumpy to see if it is a lack of interest in the smooth texture that is doing it? I put baby pasta shapes into purees to give Benjamin something to chew on.
Also - could you try a 4 diddy mouthfuls of several different foods type of meal. So 4 carrot, 4 potato, 4 parsnip, 4 chicken & sweet potato type arrangement.
Also - are you offering pudding? I know that even if Benjamin is not liking his dinner he will at the very least take pudding (I confess to buying jar puddings because my pudding repertoire is sh1te!!) I do puree fruits for him though. And he likes Angel Delight!

I'm contemplating 'forgetting' Chris's dummies when we go 2mo.
    brave or stupid? :undecided

Depends how much he has it and how often he goes without it.

I would begin telling him now that he has to give it to Santa at christmas now that he is a big boy...and then on christmas eve gather them up and leave them with the mince pies.

Yay Erin - hope you didn't jinx it Caz!!! That's what happened to me and Fritha!!

Happy Birthday Mel! I agree, it could be worse, you could be as old as [STRIKE]me[/STRIKE] 3 ;)

NMS - I've tried the options thing and sometimes it works (depends what mood Jack is in ). Guess I'll just need to be a bit more forceful with stuff - last night he was just faffing with eBay. He even said this morning that he thinks he's getting addicted to eBay - um, I told u that ages ago!

If he was out at work all day then I wouldn't mind so much - I don't think it helps his mum telling him that when they had him his Dad did nothing and she always had his tea on the table. Thanks for that!

Right, my battery is about to go and I can't find the charger. WIll be back later on!

Oh, Jack is in his first Newborn outfit - it's a little big but looks good!

Keely, ((hugs)) I really hope the police can do something for you. And well done for calling them... The neighbours I have a problem with have backed off and even though they're causing nightmares for others, they leave me alone because they know I'm not scared of them and I won't hesitate to call the police!

Glam, I'm with everyone else... Go on strike and just do stuff for you and Jack... It doesn't matter what his mother did, you're not her!

Caitlyn had a mega nap this morning, 3 hours!! She hasn't slept like that for a long time... Think it was because I was lying next to her and everytime she stirred I stuck a nipple in her gob lol...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

I agree with bit in bold! Any chance you can change your ebay password?

Grr at MIL - my Mum used to try telling me I was a bad wife for not making sure Gaz had ironed work stuff ready in the mornings - Err, we both worked full time and I managed to sort my clothes out...

Aw at Jack. I was looking back at pictures of Liam the other day in newborn outfits that really were too big for him but that he fills now! I need to start pulling out his 0-3 month clothes, I've got a feeling they are mostly summery types though

Keely - that must have been scary for you. HUGS!

Sorry to intrude in your thread Ive been browsing for a while. I apologise if I speak out of turn Glam but your MIL saying that is out of order but then again he should know that you cant do it all on your own. He sounds like he was/is a mummys boy, its about time he stood up to the challenge and told his mum and helped you out without him wanting a standing ovation everytime he does something. Or maybe he is finding it a lot harder to adjust to Jack etc and doesnt know what to do etc :o
Opinions are like ar*eholes - everybody has one!!!! :D

I'm not succeeding in keeping up with you girls at all :rotfl:

Have only managed to read the last few posts but looks like Glam needs big hugs!

Midwife came this morning and young Edward has put on 100g since Sunday so finally starting to move in the right direction. He's still 200g under his birth weight though, so still not discharged from CMW and she's coming back next week to reweigh. Feeling better though that there is evidence that he is taking in enough milk, so at least no pressure at the moment from anyone other than inlaws to switch him onto formula.

We took him out for lunch afterwards at the cafe in our local park, and I was just enjoying a post lunch coffee with baby on the breast, when a bona fide nutter burst in with a large alsation dog, stripped to the waist, and started shouting, waving a knife around and lurching round the room. At one point, he was standing right over me, and I was desperately hoping Edward wouldn't cry and trying not to catch his eye, and hoping OH wouldn't try to intervene and escalate things. Eventually he left, stripped off completely naked and jumped into the duck pond in front of all the mums and toddlers there to feed the ducks! By the time we left there were at least 50 police officers, an ambulance and an inflatable boat all there to try and get him out of the pond, and presumably cart him off under the Mental Health Act. It certainly put paid to our idea of a nice Autumn walk through the park after lunch... Living in London is exciting sometimes!!

I agree with elle and bruno, my DH's attitude is that we both do our jobs in the day: me-fergussing and him teaching and researching, so when he comes back we both do stuff on the house and for Fergus. I think I kinda take this for granted a bit :o.
That's how we view it too - the stuff while OH is out at work isn't shared but once he's home everything is shared. He always does all the morning and evening stuff with Alice (except for BF) because if I did it all then he wouldn't get to spend much time with Alice on work days.

I was going to suggest trying a few different things per meal but MFD beat me to it. (Or even alternating between two things might help?)

It also made me reflect how even positive comments which draw attention to race can feel a bit excluding. There was a few 'oh so lovely and pale!' type comments about fergus. It was nice to get compliments. But I felt our differences a lot :o.
If everyone else is Arab then you are bound to attract more attention initially but I imagine if you keep going, you will not be so novel.
