AF - hugs to you sweetie. Don't worry about crying. I did it to my health visitor too and about sleep problems. Sleep deprivation is the worst isn't it.

We lead parallel lives, my LO has a cold and gone off her food a bit too. I have to confess to just sticking with what I know she'll eat and on the hard days and waiting for a good mood for trying different things. Some days I think she refuses my offerings just because she knows I spent ages preparing somehting especially for her!

this was me last night. i would have been happy with toast, as would hubby, but i walked over an hour to a 'little' tescos get chicken (as i knolw on a sunday the local shop wouldn't have any) to make a meal for her, only for her to eat a couple of spoonfuls.

i am also finding that i think she is over tired at the minute as her sleeping is so bad at night and even after nap in the morning or afternoon, she still yawns and rubs her eyes.

ps. MFD just point out to any spicy haters that babies in india get given the same stuff their parents eat which is often spicy and hey are still surviving!

 AF! Her favourites at the moment are:

pasta (either tiny shapes or big adult ones for finger food)
    yogurt
anything cheesy - be it sauce, veggies hidden in cheese sauce, cream cheese, chunks of cheese etc
bread and anyhting like that - crumpets, pitta, toast, bagels etc
fruit - bananas and grapes mostly
    lasagne (!!!)

MFD - I am of the opinion that so long as it's not stupid (i.e pureed fish supper or something!) then it's alright. I'd rather she had a taste of 'real' food and had a varied diet. She loves finger food - I know its because she's an independant wee madam (like her mother) and so we try and have a combination. I'm not brave enough to let her loose with a spoon other than to chew on it just yet!

sleeping - Well, we've had a week of unbroken evenings and nights. After much debate and faffing about with 'ideas' we have worked out she was cold (she's always loved being wrapped up cosy warm at night and in her pram) so are now using long sleeved vests at night, turned the heating on and using an extra blanket. We also worked out she was hungry - so have introduced a more structured 'snack' time twice a day. She's not a huge eater so to get enough in her we need to do it little and often as she fills up at meal times quickly and we are trying some more calorie dense foods like custard and protein. we find that carbs at her evening meal help her sleep better (pasta is a god send!).

I don't BF anymore so don't nurse to sleep. She won't fall asleep at the bottle unless she's zonked and I have to cradle her to sleep - if I lie her in my arms and sing 'baa baa blimin black sheep' a million times she eventually closes her eyes and cuddles in to sleep!

Weaning-ish question.. Do you sterilise spoons, food pots etc?

Not sure how you'd go about it for Rhys, does he need extra protection from bugs or is his immune system OK?

I won't bother sterilizing spoons and bowls for Caitlyn as long as they're clean... They're not really going to grow bacteria like milk bottles would given a chance...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

elle - I sterlaised at first until she was past 6 months I was eating enough for it to become a faff. HV told me only to worry about sterlaing recepticles for milk - anything else is at your discretion. I use the dishwasher - though always the top shelf, but do steralise if another child has used it. I steralise my bottles and drinking cups (or rather LO's, not my personal ones!) HTH

Nope, we've never been told to be any extra careful with sterilising :) I was just reading the packaging of the food pots I bought the other day and it mentioned sterilising and I realised I'd not thought about that! Suppose I should do the bits that come into contact with milk, like the baby rice? :o

ETA: Need another steriliser tub!

oh i love seeing what others are eating as i feel in a rut (as i was saying last night)

finger foods i am going to start giving more off when she is better.

cheese sauce -- what is the best way to make this??? i am not a cheese kinda gal (unless its a toasted sandwich) so i dont have a clue.

loving that she cuddles into sleep that way. i'd be happy tod othat if bubs then got a good stretch of sleep.
