Sami, unfortunately went to town and spent money. No baby things though, haven't even looked at baby clothes in H&M, walked in then out, winds me up when all the kids stuff is upstairs in shops.

Money Maker glad you are heard some good news today about Dylan. And hugs for the bad bit.

Elle, sorry you about the MRI, must have been an awful to watch.

Oh, and now i must go, Alex is screaming again. Think he has belly ache. Lots of kicking, legs pulling up, then straightening. He is not happy at all:(

Looks like I missed out on a home for the chav spoon - my niece has posted pics of her 11 week old being fed baby rice. Frankly I am too disgusted to even look, never mind speak to her about it. Hubby is going mad :(
My HV came to talk to us about weaning at 11 weeks and she said that even then lots of people have already started. She said some people have said they've given their babies Quavers.

I was kind of waiting for it because apparently she is now on 9oz bottles (a FULL TT bottle!) every 4 hours. She has doubled her birth weight already.

I just feel very, very sorry for the poor little girl :o I don't want to come over like I think I am better than her (we will never see eye to eye, I am a first time mum at 33, she is 19 and our outlooks are completely different) so I keep my mouth shut but this is just wrong.

Giving the babby quavers is a running joke in MFD Towers, hubbys friend who is a bit clueless has been asking if the babby can have quavers since Benjamin was about 5 weeks old :rotfl:

My friend's mum weened her baby at about 12weeks, she wasn't gaining much weight at all, she actually had to be hospitalised 2 weeks after being born as she was BF' but my friends mum wasn't producing enough milk, so she went onto formula, and still wasn't gaining much.

Must admit I was shocked when my friend told me his sister was eating nosh as I thought his mum always seemed a bit proper about everything, but she knows her baby best and Ruby loves nutterbutter squash! Hehe

Fritha: any luck with sling meet venue? I've ordered a joey :j

MFD: I know you think its appalling (and I agree with you) BUT its not going to kill him/her :)
I think its no surprise that mums wean early when they discuss it at the 3mth check and are really annoying about not clearly saying that you shouldn't wean before 6mths.
I think they should just say "don't wean before 6mths without seeking professional help first" I got a wishy washy "but if milk really isn't filling them try a liitle bit of rice"
mums will always wean earlier than advised so telling the 6mths would mean that the 'naughty' early weaners would prob start at 4or5mths , non? well that's my two pennerth anyway :)

weaning actually slows weight gain according to recent studies :silenced:

She hasn't had her 3 month check because she isn't 3 months for another 10 days. She can't hold her head up for more than a few seconds so she needs to be laid back to be fed, which is so wrong, it is literally pouring runny food down the babies throat _pale_

As I understand it, early weaning can cause renal problems and that has scientifically proven. The date after which it is deemed to be 'safer' is 17 weeks. I am not a great believer in measuring things by weeks as you know, prefering to go by baby's ability - but 11 weeks (okay, she is 12 weeks tomorrow) is just too far removed from the safe point to be acceptable. And if there is an 'indicator' as to when baby is able to wean, surely it has to be linked to an ability to control their head?

    I'll shut up now :silenced:
