I bought this and went for it. I wasted the first one over-firing it, but it turned out good enough for me.

  • Weezyl - Re toys: ruby has lots of girls toys but also has a toolkit that someone gave me and she loves it and I was also looking at the fisherprice garage for her. We go to toddler groups and she will play with anything although very drawn to the trollies but I think this is just cos she loves pushing things around. About the clothes - what can I say my fav colour is pink and mostly everything she owns is pink aswell and has been from birth ( we found out she was a girl at 20 wks) not so keen on the slogans tho if she has them they are usually what I have been given, also not too keen on character clothing ITNG, peppa pig etc but have been given some of these aswell.

    Quick poll are you:

    a) gonna give boys a toy kitchen and girls a train set
    b) see what LO gravitates towards
    c) max out on the girlie stuff for girls and boy stuff for boys

Also: Gender-specific clothing, do you like

    a) anything very neutral, so others more guess the sex of your LO
    b) lots of slogans like 'mummy's little princess'/'mummy's cheeky monkey'
    c) bit of pinkness or blueness but not too hot on the slogans etc...

One of the very few outfits I kept and both girls have worn is a blue romper which we bought when pregnant just because it was cute (we knew she was a girl at that point). Most of Ellos stuff is just colourful because she suits bright colours rather than pink.

Both girls are jeans & t shirt people on the whole.

Millies first crush was on Thomas the Tank Engine, I swear we have/had every Thomas item on the planet and I have been to more 'Day out with Thomas''s than is really healthy. We did used to get some funny looks as mother/daughter at a very father/son event.

However since she started preschool 2 years ago she has been getting more and more girly, has a disney princess bedroom and wants a party dress for her birthday (which she intends to wear with ugg boots).

So certainly for millie peer pressure is a big influence on this, up until this year we've had an even mix of girls and boys for tea/at parties etc but its all girls now.

He had a little poo at the sling meet, and then did poo the size of his whole head when back at home- I kid you not!(not as wide on coming out, but that size if you put it all together IYSWIM?) Which just shows how long it hangs around for, even with double dose lactulose. :o:D

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Since weaning the never-pooing Benjamin has pood a minimum of 4 times a day...in fact I was explaining to the HV the other day that he can't eat without pooing and I was worried about his table manners :D

PS, I've been meaning to ask you all for views on gender-specific toys and clothes.

    Thanks for any thoughts :)

Benjamin generally wears boy-type clothes in bright colours but definitely no slogans!! I tend to misplace any that we have acquired ;)

With regard to toys, we don't really buy any, my SIL has sent so many of my nephews toys over! But he does have a bright pink 'entertainer' loaned by a friend (it's really pink!). As he grows he will get whatever he wants I guess  but with mainly boys in the family and me being more construction than dolly I guess he is likely to gravitate towards boys stuff!

I am so pee'd off with having the same 'conversation' with hubby about the heating

Just a quick hello. I've been mega busy, but it's all good and we are all well.

Thanks to those who pointed me in the direction of the child tax credits etc. A nice 4 figure back payment was in my account this week (pounds not pence!) and my award letter came this morning and it's alot of money per week/month/year.

I hope you are all well

    It isn't even that easy!!

    Rant alert!!

We had a new boiler put in last Nov (when I was away with work for a few days) and apparently the radiator in the nursery is b00gered and can only be hot (not adjusted like the other radiators) - a decision was taken not to replace it.

So I have turned all the other radiators up to full and I am trying to control the temp using the boiler radiator settings (because Benjamins room is tiny and his rad is always at the highest temp...) but then hubby keeps turning the radiators down

He doesn't seem to understand that if it is too hot in our bedroom with the radiator on full it is too hot in Benjamins room too - so turning our radiator down is tantamount to cooking our son  If it is hot, turn the bl00dy boiler down

Somebody tell me that you understand what I am saying....because I have said the same thing ten times to hubby and he still isn't listening.

MFD, I know what you mean. But have you looked into how much it is to replace/repair it? The one in the kids room went but luckily we have boiler care thingy. It was easy to fix, they didn't even have to drain it or anything.
