Hi all,
Have had a pants couple of days here, so haven't been on since yesterday morning. Will try and read back a bit tonight so I don't miss out on too much gossip.
Saw a stupid HV yesterday who told me "you're just looking for a reason to stop BF" when I mentioned Caitlin's bobbing on and off my boob and I wondered if it was hurting her gum where the tooth is coming through. !!!!!!. If I wanted to stop BF I would, but I don't.
Also, when I put Caitlin on the scales I said "ooh, let's see if you've hit the 11lb mark, shall we?" and she said "oh, is that cause for a celebration then?" really saracastically.
God, it sounds pathetic and like I'm really over-reacting when I type it now, but she really annoyed me, and with two really bad nights and trying to get sorted for our hol, I just feel bleugh.0 -

Thanks ladies for your support. Today's been a very up-and-down day emotionally, I could have done with this going well but, as Feelie said, at least he didn't scream
It was more a look of amazement on his face of "What do you expect me to do with that?" :rotfl:
Krystal, do you think it makes any difference that he still had his gastric feeding tube in? We asked the SCBU nurse and she said it didn't, but I couldn't help thinking that, when he did open his mouth a little, the tube got in the way.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Damn - multiquoted too many people again - why the hell can't I coun't to 3 these days
Weezl - I agree re the centiles. Benjamin is heading back towards the 75th (where he was when he was born) now he is eating and the HV kept harping on about how fantastic it was that he was gaining weight so well when I got him weighed today.
Personally I am not really bothered what centile he is as long as he is active, happy and healthy but there is also something inside me which says that since I started weaning him he has gone from just above the 25th to halfway between the 50th and the 75th...so on this fictional stupid, straight line curve (if that isn't an oxymoron!) he has actually gained a disproportionate amount of weight in the last month...
...am I bovvered???
Only about the 'oh-so-bl00dy-happy' attitude of the HV :rotfl:I echo everything MFD said, because she is a wise woman!
How could I not quote this...you may remove it at a later date

Never mind, not giving up yet, try again tomorrow.
My first attempt wasn't very successful either... but nobody cared because he was a newborn and it can take a few attempts for them to get the idea that the booby is a milk machine
I'm not bragging, just saying that they are all the same when they first try, I just didn't have the pressure/expectation that you do.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow

Tigs, it was explained to me with the boys that when they have the nasal gastric tube they get hungry and then their bellies are full again so they dont know how it happens and dont realise that they have to do something to food. plus if he has only had tube feeds how would he know what milk tastes like? the best you can expect right now is for him to nuzzle and lick the nipple with you squeezing a few drops out to let him taste it. then he is a boy so he has to think about it for a long time....0

Is there any way to move the tube out of the way without dislodging it at all? It probably wouldn't affect him as far as actually feeding goes but maybe it's a distraction to him when he is trying to latch on... (Elle might be the best person to ask about this, I don't know if she fed Rhys with the tube in) Did he take an interes in your breasts while he was there? just lying, looking at them and having a lick is a completely normal reaction... Full term babies don't always latch straight away with any success... Is there a good infant feeding co-ordinator at your hospital supporting you?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Chopsticks, as Susan said, Rhys has his MRI on Monday so with recovery from the GA and other appointments next week I'm not sure when/if we're going to be able to fit this meet in
Glad you had a good first holiday xx
Elle, just to let you know I have seen your note from yesterday morning. Sending lots of hugs to you and Rhys.
I'll text you when I'm back from my second hol (a week on Friday) and see how you are and we can play it by ear. No worries if you/Rhys aren't up to it or have the time.
