I would seriously think about complaining, or at the least enquiring about seeing another HV because you don't want to see that one again.:rotfl::rotfl:
I don't think you're over-reacting - I'd be tempted to make a complaint if a HV made loads of sarcastic comments like that to me.
She is actually my HV but she doesn't even know it. Basically, when I started having HV home visits when the MW stopped coming at day 10, she was on reduced hours (not sure why) and didn't have time to see me, so another HV came from a different surgery. When that HV stopped coming, I was "transferred" back to the one at my surgery, but she has never contacted me and I have never contacted her.
Then, when Caitlin had her first set of jabs, it was this HV who did them. She was quite nice when I told her about the locum Dr giving Caitlin the wrong cream for her eye and everything and encouraged me to make a complaint. However, when I told her that I was using nipple shields, she told me that I had to get rid of them if I didn't need them and when she saw Caitlin had a dummy she said "and that's not helping". I'm not sure what she meant by that. All I know is that I gave Caitlin her dummy after the jabs and it soothed her pretty quickly!
Anyway, we went last week for her second set of jabs and she walked straight past me but spoke to three other ladies and their babies in the waiting room, so she obviously doesn't have a clue who I am and that she's my HV. As it turns out, she then went out somewhere and it was someone else who did the jabs (no idea who).
Then (bear with me, I'm nearly finished
), I went to SS centre yesterday for the weigh-in. There is a rota for HVs there so there is a different one each week. Yesterday, she was there (apparently that is the first time she's been there) but she really didn't have a clue that she was my HV.
It wasn't just me that she was rude to. There was another lady too.
I've mentioned it to a couple of people and they both said I should complain. I'm not sure what to do as if I do complain, I don't want her to do Caitlin's 16wk jabs and be mean to her and hurt her. I know she shouldn't, but I don't want to risk it
.
I'm thinking about changing Doctors surgery and then maybe I'll get assigned a new, nicer HV.
I don't want a HV who is breathing down my neck all the time. I just want one who is nice.
Phew, that was a long rant.
I'm going to be around for the next 10mins or so, but will be on the Tesco site too as I need to do an order for our holiday. I am then going to bed as am so tired and I know Caitlin will be up in the night.
She only had 2.5oz of her 5oz bottle before bed and she fell completely asleep in DH's arms and wouldn't wake up for him. He put her in her cot saying "she'll wake in in a bit and want the rest of the bottle" but that was just over 2hrs ago now! So, she's def gonna wake up hungry in the night.0 -

Thanks for all your helpful comments and general supportiveness!
Susan, great idea about measuring length etc, for some stupid reason you are only 'allowed' to have them measured twice in their first year here (how mad is that rule?) anyway we've measured her ourselves tonight and she is 25th centile and always has been, head circumference is slightly harder to do but is going along the line it started on. So looks to me like theres nothing wrong but she is going to be tallish and skinny just like Daddy and Millie.
Can't believe I've let the stupid woman get to me so much, theres a team of about 12 HV's so you never see the same one twice and they all give different advice and have different opinions on how much of a problem it is/isn't.MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740 -
Huggles for everyone who feels they need one this evening

Well done Tig for trying. Keep on keeping on and he will get there
No new updates here. Nursery had a poorly baby to contend with today (not Izzy I should add) so they didn't have time to update her book, so no idea what she has been up to today, but she ate all her food, and was wearing different clothes when she got home. It looks like she has conjunctivitis again too, so will have to pop to the pharmacy when we go to Mr T in the morning. (We have been upgraded to a tesco extra, so I'm on a quest for some morelong sleeved t-shirts now they do clothes... and maybe a little something for me too
) I think maybe I should have sent her in with more food today. She was obviously having a hungry day, as she had half a jar of food, and a massive bowl of cerial before bed. All that playing must be hard work!

MM - I think that they just see anything out of the 'norm' as a problem. You know yourself whether Ello is a happy, healthy, thriving child and don't let anyone tell you differently.
Chopsticks - changing docs to rid yourself of the HV is a bit drastic unless you are unhappy with the docs in other areas. They usually cover more than 1 docs surgery anyway. If she is rude to other people too then maybe a tactfully worded letter to the Docs Practice Manager explaining that she has made comments which you found upsetting and unhelpful but asking them to be discrete (and not tell her it was you) would be a start? If you stress that you feel that her comments will make you less likely to visit with genuine problems in the future and that you have seen other ladies getting upset too then they may just have a quiet word with her???please listen to MFD - she is a wise woman

Caz, I received your fairy present today, thank you. My neighbour across the road took it in yesterday for me and brought it across today.
I used one of the bags today for the milk I expressed yesterday and I am now the proud owner of 6oz frozen breast milk - the first time I've frozen any!
Thank you so much

Yay for Caitlyn!!
There seems to be some awful HV around at the moment. You would think they would realise the impact some of the things they say to parents have xDS Anthony Steven 07.06.92DD Becky Emma 24.01.94DD Rose Grace Jean 12.05.090 -

I have a packet of mince in the freezer which I use to lay the bags on top of so they freeze in nice flat blocks...easier for storage when you have as many as I do!!!
Although stocks are depleting now I have stopped expressing
