Not a good idea - you need an SIA licence to clamp so he'll call the police. You don't need a licence to put up signs warning of clamping though.

The space is definately ours, tried the wheel clamp trick in our last house, the guy called the police who told me to get it off as it was his property. This only gave him more smugness to continue parking in our space. which esclated it to the point where I stupidly got a nail gun and used it on his car and house front door threatening to use it on his head. You can imagine the rest of the situation. £2,800 down and extremely lucky not to get prosecuted. So dont want to go through that again. Also last time it was partly my fault, I did not approach the situation correctly in the first place, which caused us 6 months of upset and still leaves problems for my mum as it was her house I lived at.
  • Everyone calls me neigbourhood watch because I make the effort to know all the new people that move in to my block of flats, that 12 in my block and 7 in the block behind, all using the same car park.

This way if any problems arise, I can deal with it directly. (had problems in the past) Now I aways make the effort to introduce myself and say hello when ever I see them.

If a neigbour parked in my space then I would know who it was, although I do have the fortune of looking in to the carpark from my living room window.

However I have quite often sent my own letters and put them in people letter boxs, might be doing one anyday now about the over flowing recyling bin, why do people still keep putting stuff in / around it?
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • I don't know about your block of flats but a few years ago when I lived in a block we all aslo had allocated spaces
No-one except maybe a couple of people stuck to their spaces, instead we used our 'usual spots'
It was sort of an unwritten rule that everyone knew where there 'usual spot' was even though it wasn't there allocated space
I have no idea how this came about but that's just the way it was

I know it seems petty but seeing as you've only just moved in this guy probably doesn't think it's an issue as he's 'always parked there'

There's not much you can do other than talk to him
I wouldn't recommened blocking his car in or putting any sort of sticker on it, it's only going to escalate and turn nasty, and as you say you've had previous problems I'm sure that's the last thing you want to happen
    Future Mrs Gerard Butler :D

Er.................while you're sorting the parking problem, perhaps book some anger management classes too?
  • If your renting, then your paying for that space - whether it's stated as an additional element in your agreement or not.

Get the managament comany to sort it out. If they don't, write to them and state they are breaking the contract as your flat is supposed to come with parking and you cannot use the space.

I'd also state that since your not longer renting the space, a reduction in rent will be due from the next mont going forward.

Once they realise it's going to cause a possible financial loss, they should deal with it.

Wish I had someone like you living at our flats, our neighbours dont even say hello. Next door are so unsocialble that its very awkward if we meet in the hallway. I also say, 'hello', 'good morning' etc and all I get is a blank look. I wouldnt mind if I looked like a chav but I am always suited and booted for work, clean shaven and greeting with a smile.

I very much doubt anyone would interviene if any flat was getting broken into.

Yeah but you never know if the clean shaven respectable guy is the type to get over-excited with a nail gun......:rotfl:

Ha ha, thats very much true. Honestly I am a nice peaceful guy, apart from the above obviously. Although I was driven to this point by a complete stain of a person. This is why I want to nip this in the bud now, before it gets silly. Last time I approach the situation all wrong and acted a bit of a idiot.

I know my space could easily be mistaken for visitors parking where it is, but to continue to park in the space after 5 or so notes being left on is taking the michael.
