Yes we can still move it, can"t give you a price as we had other work done at the same time, but it only took about an hour to do. It would be a very easy job for anyone who is DIY minded.husband is not!!

I'd seriously recommend one of these: http://www.celsiusair.co.uk/equipment/xpelair/xpelair.htm

They are oodles better than a portable system with a duct.

If you do decide to buy a portable system, double check before buying that it's not an evaporative cooler-they are rubbish.

These look very similar to one of the B&Q units - the grilles are the same as is a lot of the product description - the price is about half the list quoted so I wonder what the B&Q spec unit leaves out if anything ?

Still over a grand for that. Oh well, you get what you pay for I guess.

    Cheers and take care.

Agreed but I thought that this was a money saving forum and those prices are ridiculous!

Have a look at this site which has previously advertised their smaller unit:

    Model KFR36GW
    Suitable for room 5m x 5m (25sqm)
Professional indoor/outdoor split system with remote control.
    for £239.00

    :T

  • A couple of points to note:

The B&Q units are completely different to the Xpelair Digitemp - and have a very tangible difference in build quality.

B&Q air conditioning products are very cheap and made to a price - and it shows both visually, in function and in the all important reliability.

Split systems are dodgy for a lay man to install - but the Xpelair digitemp can be fitted by the unskilled without too much difficulty as long as you can get the holes in the wall made - although that depends on the drill and the structure of the wall.

There is also quite a bit of information on this site:

AFter the last few nights of not sleeping due to a VERY hot bedroom I have decided to get a £200ish air con unit.

How does the B+Q one compare to this?

Or I was thinking for an extra £30 I could get one with a dehumidifier which would be handy in the winter when I get some damp patches on the corner of my bedroom and bathroom ceiling >>

OR on the cheap one of these (which ive heard use water to cool somehow?)

Which to go for? Or B+Q worth checking out?

I'm sure I saw an ad in my local paper offering proper systems for £600. I'm talking abot the ones with the heat pipes and seperate compressor units. They can't be that much money, a bloke round the corner from me has one.

Looks good, and also indicates that it might have an adjustable temperature thermostat which is better than just leaving it on and going by how it feels.

I might consider stocking these units, at the moment I'm selling Amcor and sub-branded units.

You can always get it, and return it under their 16 day money-back gaurentee. I have spoken to them and they are happy to take back products even if they have been opened, as long as they are still in a resellable condition. They are also really good about this, as they themselves admit the details given on the site are less than satisfactory to make a purchase decision.

    Cheers and take care.
