  • No worries. Mine was definetely beige/neutral sort of colour when I got it. It has become stained darker since I started using it so I've just got some sterlising tablets to restore the natural colour as mentioned above. Good luck!
ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away :)
  • :j sadly I am past using these but both my daughters rave about them. They have converted lots of there freinds.
Best thing since sliced bread as they say!
You save money every month, a very green alternative to tampons etc.

I think I may contact mooncup and suggest they check out this thread. I'm sure they could answer a lot of questions people have.

Ahh good, not just me then, looks like you might be getting a little bit futher than me hehe :D I will have to try again

    :D:D:D

I may have got the hang of it :j .............

so far so good. I found that if you slide your finger up the side so it doesn't 'seal' too quickly you can get it further in to start with. (Obviously don't try this if you have long fingernails - ouch!)

So hoping I can get on with this - I haven't yet found a pad that can cope overnight:o - and have you seen the price of pads lately:eek:

Good luck with yours littleange_com - I found it a lot easier this time, let us know how you get on.

bluestocking - take the plunge - you know you want to....:D (I'm 43 too - wish I'd known about these 20 odd years ago....)

;)old enough to know better, young enough not to care;)
  • Maybe we should be sending links to this discussion to our (female?) MPs. The cost and environmental impact of sanitary protection is a real taboo subject - but it costs us ladies a lot. I think we even pay VAT on them??
Why dont teenage girls' mags/guides include advice on mooncups?
I'll be trying one now that I have found out about them (aged 43...).

I just emailed my local female MP, let's see if she replies!

    Hi Littleange

The best way to get the cup in if you are a little tight is to do the 'punch down fold' and to make sure that that the lip of the cup is wet and that you are relaxed.

To do the punch down fold, form the cup into a C shape and fold down one edge in towards the middle. This then makes the top of the cup pointy. Insert the cup and then give it a swivel to unfold the cup.

If you are still having problems please feel free to contact me. My details are on https://www.freedomfromtampons.co.uk and Mooncups are my speciality.

    All the best
    Rita

Still no luck! I don't think I'll ever get it in, need something at least half the size of this to stand a chance! They definately need to make a smaller version, I'm sure a young girl would struggle with this size.

Perhaps if we can ever afford to have kids I might be able to use it after giving birth.

Might have to buy some washable pads instead, any suggestions anyone?
