Well I tried it today but had to remove it after a couple of hours, it just feels too big. I trimmed the end thing right off in the end but I could still feel it. I have an ache now, like it was too wide. I got the bigger one as I am over 30 and have had 2 children, maybe I need the smaller one but I don't want to pay out another 20 quid just yet. I will give it another try tomorrow as I really like the idea of it. Wish me luck lol

If you can bear to, I would advise you to persevere with it, it took me 3 months to get used to it and the 2nd month of those I only wore it for maybe one day in total, but that said, once you do get the knack theres no going back.

Honestly once you get used to it you'll wonder why you ever used anything else, but everyone goes through the first few times thinking 'is it in the right place?', 'will it leak?', ' should I be able to feel it?, and last but not least 'will I be able to get it out again?'

If you've trimmed the end off then it should 'feel' better and then its just a matter of getting used to it.

Good fairy - just to echo what others have said. For most people there is a learning curve and I didn't get along well with mine at first but I persevered.

Leave it for a day or two, or even until your next cycle and then have another go. It is important to stay relaxed about it, don't let it get you frustrated :)

I am considering buying a mooncup for the enviromental reasons. Just wondering if anyone knows of somewhere cheaper than the website to get them. As £18.99 is a bit more than i thought it would be.

    Thanks:D

I bought mine off ebay for around £15 I think

Was a couple of years ago now and I have used it without problems ever since - won't need to buy tampons etc ever again so well worth the initial outlay

Just wanted to say a quick thanks as this thread inspired me to go and get a mooncup - I have to say it was all a bit tricky for the first period, but now I wouldn't be without it - its even kind of nice to get it out again when I have my period. I have to remember that I have it in, though.
I mentioned it in passing to one of my friends (who is ecologically-minded) and she nearly fainted with horror! -to me it all seems very sensible and handy. But I guess it takes all sorts...

  • Apologies if this question has already been asked.
I have a problem that whenever I go to the loo I "push" tampax out and it's really annoying!
Is this likely to happen with the mooncup too?
I am sold on the idea except if this is going to happen with the mooncup also.
    Thanks.
I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break :D

Hi, Ive considered a mooncup before but never got round to buying one. All the raving reviews on here have inspired me, so ive just ordered one! Just wondering what you do if you're out and it needs emptying? In public toilets it would be a little embarrassing to have to come out of the cubicle to rinse it and then go back in! Even worse if there were a queue and you had to then join the end of the queue to get back in a cubicle to re-insert the mooncup!! I bet its quite satisfying to see how much its collected at the end of the day!

    .

Hi I had this problem with Tampons but have this has not been a problem with the mooncup as long as I've put in right.

As for cleaning it while out in public i always take a bottle of water with sport bottle lid into the toilet with me and just give it a squirt to clean it.

    Hope this helps

Thank you for that - sets my mind at rest and as that was my only concern aboiut it, I'm going to pop off and order one now.
