Only negative is that they get quite a bit of glare if I wear them at night - I get lines of glare running from street-lights to the end of my nose.. quite trippy! - so I don't think I'd want to drive in them.

What, after your night out this happens?0 -

Either they need a good clean or the coating is faulty.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Just ordered 4 pairs from selectspecs.com - assume they will come from china and take a few weeks to arrive - but for £5 or £8 (semi-rimless) who cares!
Also for anyone looking D&A are doing a no obligation free eye test.
you will need to add the dots

When you order, you fill in an on screen prescription which looks just like your form. I think you need to get a copy. The only 'problem' is that you need your pupilliary distance for the prescription. You can order a special ruler for this, but I just had my wife mark my glasses with a felt pen and measured the distance 3 times and took the average. No problem.
I did ask the optician to do it for me, but you would have thought I was asking him to donate a lung.
LOL about the lung
So for this PD thing you measure from the middle of your eye to not sure where? Thanks for any guidance0 -
Your pupiliary distance is the distance from outside of one pupil to the inside of the other if this helps, usually somewhere between 55 and 70mm and usually measured in millimetres. I got someone to measure mine with a ruler it was easy enough to do - £5 specs cant wait!!0

probably need a good clean i get that on my expensive ones its just grease that hasn't been wiped away cleanly my mum always used to wash her glasses with a small bit of washing up liquid and let them dry on kitchen paper. i do this too this way you dont smear the glasses when cleaning with a cloth as muchMy Signature is MY OWN!!0 -

um......could it be that they thought you should be buying the glasses from their firm, and helping to cover their costs for having a high street shop?
Thanked by accident....
Who cares what the optician thinks? They'd paid for the test, either themselves or via the NHS so it shouldn't be like pulling teeth to get the pupil distance!
I've worked in a opticans so know how little they pay for frames and the very high profit margins they have. Maybe if the prices were more reasonable people wouldn't buy online.:j30/7/10:j

Thank you for this. My Mum has an eye test on Saturday and is dreading the price of new glasses. Just spotted an identical pair on here to the ones she thinks she wants. She would save £100+ by ordering from here instead.Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0
