The 98 passet will be a great car to run on veg, again just make sure that it is a bosch pump, I am pretty certain being German it will be. There was a law in Germany in the 90's regarding running cars on a certain amount of bio dino so thery came from the factory ready to goand will make an excellent veg car.
With the Berlingo if it has the xud 1.9 engine and a bosch pump then the world is your oyster- pour in your veg and off you go happy cheap green motoring.
I have done about 100 miles on my svo and it is loving it, although there is a whiif of the chippy on start up !

Are 'veg' and 'sunflower' oils interchangeable for these purposes then?

Anything squeezed from a plant can be burnt in the right diesel engine.
Sunflower, rape seed, any veg oil.

I also read somewhere that gearbox oil can be used as well. Dont know how true this is tho.

A diesel engine will burn it quite happily. Customs and excise will want their full duty on it though, it's not exempt like biofuel.

An old trick was to use hydraulic fluid instead of Redex for a de-coke, it had the same smoking effect as the real thing.

There is a guy on the vegoil forum running his car on filtered waste engine oil !!

Glad you've made the decision to go 100%. Just remember, if anything goes wrong the age of the car means bits are easy to find in scrap yards and cost peanuts.

    I've patched my exhaust.
3 new springs are going to be 50quid.
Might need new rear shocks at 30 for the pair.
Couple of tyres ideally up front for another 50quid.

Why do people drive new cars ?!?
