I'll let you sleep on it. As r2rc says, Your Car, Your choice, Your loss - or something like that...!!Genie

Jeannie, is there a chance that you can do a post saying in laymans terms what it is all about and a link to the R2 site.then we can mass email to everyone, especially if like me we have friends in other EU countries, mine in Spain, hopefully some will be in France, they normally get stuck in,
cheersI

Thank you - I am beginning to wonder why I am bothering...!! I've never known a 'law' to be kept so quiet and its running out even more quiet!
The website - is www.r2rc.co.uk you have to not only go in and sign the petition (not sure if it is doing any good
) but it leads you, eventually, to all the latest info etc. I don't know how the other countries in the EU are affected by it all. I would be interested to know. For instance, are they also dependent on independent garages to give them better prices? Or are their dealerships costs low in comparison to ours? What about obtaining diagnostic information and downloads? Do they pay as much as we do for the info? Do they have lots of motor factors that could be affected? People that make OE parts? The ripple effect goes on, either way, the consumer will be hit the hardest, just for a change...

As this is all to be decided by the EU Commission, I doubt that we have little say in the matter. In the UK we know that we really get stung by high prices etc etc. Does anyone have experiences or know what dealerships in the rest of Europe charge? Are they more reasonable than here? Do they share diagnostic information?
If the rest of Europe do have better dealerships etc., then I am not sure that the Block Exemption will be renewed next year as it would be only the UK consumers etc. that would gain by it.... bit of a worry....

You make me laugh Crabbers!! I hope your friend 'Hertz' can give us some useful information!
I've got this horrid feeling in my water that those on the continent (basically the rest of Europe and not us..) get better and cheaper servicing and aftercare than we do, so BER may not matter to them so much. In other words, tough - if you are in the UK!!
As we, in the UK, as motorists, are used to being ripped off, it will be nothing new, nothing we will do anything about and just sit back and take it as per usual ...
I'm feeling slightly negative tonight........ you may have noticed.......

And your views on the Block Exemption would be much appreciated - yes, I know I joke around at times, but sometimes you have to be serious.master_of_nothing wrote: »the same could be asked about your rather odd flirting and taking every thread into a game of kiss chase:rolleyes:
Appreciate your views please and if you have any ideas on how to bring this to the public eye some more, it would be gratefully received. Thanks.Genie

Can anyone be bothered anymore? We accept high road tax, we accept paying an arm and a leg for petrol, so we should accept paying more for servicing (whilst under warranty) and accept that diagnostic information will be held back and we will have no choice other than to go to the dealership to have our car/van repaired. It's the British way........0
