Ive got quotes from them before, they are well known in Ireland and N.Ireland. I have always been able to get cheaper quote from web based https://www.evaninsurance.co.uk though they only do up to a certain weight.

They are regulated by the UK FSA for their UK business as per:
We are regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the conduct of UK business

As others have said, they are relatively new in the UK - if you do a search for Quinn you will find a few peoples comments about them but really you have to take it with a pinch of salt as 1) people are much more likely to post about negative experiences than neutral or possitive ones and 2) I doubt many people are ever happy to deal with insurance other than saying what the price is

  • Thanks for the replies - having second thoughts now about going with them.
I've had cheaper quotes for the vehicle but most only do TP only for a trailer, whereas Quinn offer TP/F&T and Comp.
    Never straight forward is it?

If you are trying to simply get the lowest price then no it isnt.... if you arent as price sensitive then it is easy enough by going to a traditional broker who will get exactly what you want but probably not as competitive

Just bought a van (1900 cc) for £600. Want to insure third party fire and theft. I am 52, my son (who will be using it as a named driver) is 20 and already has an insurance policy (we have a policy each). Any suggestions on companies to approach. Thanks!!

My ex-employer, Royal and SunAlliance used to do a pretty good policy - Vanshield. Think you need to speak to a broker to get it though.

Main driver will be the 20 year old.
  • I'm moving house soon, so have bought a van (which I'll sell after the move) but my current car insurer will not insure vans or pickups.

I'm only gonna be driving this for a few of weeks (long enough to move house and sell it).

If cancel my current policy and take out another one I may have to cancel it again after I get rid of the van.

I think I'd rather just keep my current policy going and have another temp one for the van... not sure what is best...

    ~Any advice is much appreciated~
