    Evening all,

My housemate Amy was meant to be moving in today but the a*sehole who was meant to be giving her a lift bailed out at the last minute so her mum's bringing her up later in the week. I've eaten nothing but chocolate and crisps all day and predictably feel like sh*te. I'm going to have to book a doctor's appointment tomorrow, I can't go on like this. I've been trying so hard not to go onto anti-depressants, as I was raised to believe they were bad, but I think I'm going to have to. I know there's a few people on here on them, from what I remember. Have any of you had any side effects, if you don't mind me asking? And can you honestly not drink at all on them or is it just that you can't get trashed? Because I usually have one drink a week at a social, two if I'm feeling very flush. :D Surely an amount that small wouldn't be a problem?

Kayleigh....there is nothing bad about anti depressants....they are there to help.

From experience I had very few side effects....bit dizzy when i got up too fast and sleepiness for the first few days. You have to give them a couple of weeks to kick in and get some benefit from them

Go to your doc Kayleigh....you do seem to have been quite low of late. :grouphug:

I was trying to persuade my niece to do it with me at last nights party....she is very upset about her weight.

  • We're watching the GNR on Sky+ now, seems really wierd to think that we were actually in there doing it!

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

I've been on many, many anti-depressants. Some had side effects, some took a while to kick in. Drinking depends on which one, some of them it's worse than others. In general though I've never found a problem with a couple of drinks on any of them. But it's better not to drink until you've been on them for a while and got used to them. The big problem with drinking on a-d's is that one's an 'upper' and one's a 'downer' and so they cancel each other out.

And there's nothing wrong with taking them if you need them! My dad used to hide mine, he really disapproves. He regularly suggests I miss them - if I can't stay an extra day because I don't have enough with me, why don't I just miss a dose. When I started new ones and couldn't drink, why not just miss a dose. It's taken me a long time to realise it's nothing to do with him. No-one would suggest walking around on a broken leg being the best treatment, but walking round with a chemical imbalance is somehow better than taking meds to balance it out?!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I've been taking for 3 months now and was a little nauseous for the first couple days but other than that fine. I do have the odd drink with them but more than one and I get headachy and tired. Go to the docs hun - it was the best thing I ever did
