All you third trimester peeps, has anyone got a special going home outfit for bubs? Just wondering....:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Evening all, No news on any babies???
Hope Princess P is ok!
Need to call the hospital tomorrow and find out about getting into antenatal, mum was at the building they hold the nearest one and the new session starts next week. Only problem is i need referred according to what mum was told by the CMW but i don't have one so will need to chase the hospital MW, just hope she has the info and i'm not left chasing the unhelpfull/rude CMW.
Sis had a good day i really hate all these ups and downs. Today was the first time she asked about bump even before she went in to the hospital, was trying not to get upset by her not asking giving the situation but when she asked i felt like crying. She cant belive the size of bump and wanted proof of the date as she thought she had been unconscious for longer because as she wrote ...... your so fat lol
She wrote an apology to mum and dad saying she was sorry and can't understand why she done it, we all blubed a bit at that. She also made mum promise to give our gran a £1 for the ice cream van for a cone :rotfl: At least she will now get the help she deserves. She has more tests tomorrow so i just hope that they are all ok.
Off to bed got a busy day tomorrow with dad, easy stuff though we are not up to big things at the moment.
Hugs and vibes to all that need them.[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j

I have my booking in appt next Friday, I will be 12wks then. I hope it doesn't take too long for my dating scan.
As already said, first babies do engage earlier... They need to start stretching their escape route haha... With ds3 he still wasn't engaged in Week 39 the midwife was telling me to get bouncing on a birth ball to encourage himdown!
I think this baby will just fall out!!!Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
Gisi - i wasn't planning to have a special going home outfit, i figure it'll be cold anyway so she'll no doubt have some kind of snowsuit on! I got a lovely cute one from Tesco the other day which looks nice and snuggly0

I love snowsuits, but it's so mild here I'm not sure my newborn ones will get much use! Seriously, I've worn a coat about three times so far this winter- it was 17 degrees today. It's ridiculous!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

er... *student nurse hat on*
When the mw can feel 5/5, it means all 5ths of the head are above the pelvis, when it decreases etc 4/5, 3/5 this means that the baby is moving down into the pelvis and the mw can only feel 4/5ths or 3/5ths etc....
so if you are 1/5th engaged it means the baby is very low in the pelvis and almost near birth!
Hope that helps :
So by looks of it, what the write is how much they can still feel above the pelvis. Once it hits 1/5 they can only feel a little bit of bubs head as it's already moved into the pelvic bone.
Just wanted to understand it a bit better myself too so i hope that helps a bit
Hello,
I looked into this before as my notes said 3/5 palpable. This is what the midwife can feel outwith the pelvis. It means 2/5 engaged. When baby has fully dropped, it will be 5/5 engaged, but 0/5 palpable, so it depends on how your notes are written. Hope that makes sense!
TT Steriliser - I have one as do a few others as they were in the Asda baby event. I have found it to be very good although I have nothing to compare it to! It does 4 bottles at a time (you are only meant to make up 1 at a time now, but I have yet to meet anyone who does this). If you buy an electric one, you could make up more bottles, but it takes up more space on your work surface. My only criticism is that the markings on the TT bottles are poor and it's difficult to see when steamed up. The bottles in the picture I linked to look different though so if they are the old version then apparently they are much better (think Sami B has them and mentioned this once). You can however use Avent bottles etc as they all fit in the steamer anyway. HTH.
Boogelly - enjoy your last few days at work!
GISI - I am the opposite regarding wrapping babies up. Yesterday Holly had a fur lined hat on for the first time. If we are just going into shops from the car then I don't see the need for a hat as it generally gets really warm. I had to remove the blanket/shawl that was covering her in the pram yesterday as she was roasting in a shop. I hate to see babies wrapped up in snowsuits and warm hats when it's not really cold enough. Apparently you are having a heatwave down South at the moment too!
Beenie - I had a nice velour outfit for Holly's going home outfit, and she was too big for it!!! ha ha. Never got to use quite a few of the newborn things. After 4 days of being desperate to get out of hospital, I didn't care what she was wearing and she looked right mismatched when we made our escape!0 -
It is still warm at the mo- however we are just meters from the sea so do get the chill when it decides to come - and it has a good few times over the last few weeks
OH will be cold but still no coat - he'll even shiver but say ''nah, i'm a man, i can brave it'' lol Div!
But i think Dec/ Jan /Feb and possibly March will be when the snowsuits come outHats are neccessary for newborns though - at least until they acclimatise which can take a few weeks! Just little cotton ones though - not a big wooly one that'll make their little heads sweat.
DD was born in May, it was pretty cold and rainy then just a week later prob one of the hottest weeks of summer that year - even i couldn't get to grips with what to wear let alone bub, lol! She was in velours though when she came home, little padded jacket - no need for a snowsuit in May, that'd be nuts, lol!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Yeah, we've had cold snaps, but at the moment it's lovely down here on the south coast. A month ago my three year old niece was paddling in the sea in her swimsuit!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Ah bless her - we have been on the beach sea fishing and dipping toes in but thats about it. We moved from London just 6 months ago so still haven't acclimatised fully yet. The wind on the coast is blimmin freezing...you just don't get that type of chil in the city. Hoping by this time next year we'll be suited nicely so i can keep the heating off for longer...it's costing a fortune. When we moved here we had it on all day, now it's down to 3hrs morn and 3 eve.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0

Morning all, Just waiting on kids sorting themselves out before chaos ensues in the three2be house.
When i had DD it was cold and wet so she came home in a snowsuit all pink and fluffy. DS was born in the middle of a heatwaves(thought my skin would melt in labor) so he just had a little light matching suit on and by the time we got to the car i had to remove the jacket and little hat, he is still the same now always sweating lol
Will have to get a little snow suit again for January birth:eek: It will get used for the school run even if not on the day.
hope everyone has a good day.
Vibes to all that are needing them.[STRIKE]Little bump 3 on it's way[/STRIKE]:j
