hello everyone, may I join in? I am max, mum to two girls aged 4 and 3 and one boy aged 1 on the 6th of this month. I am due our second boy, fourth and final baby on the 20th of feb,
all added , day b4 me and a boy too my 4th too , 3rd boy for meDont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0 -
jopsey - first of all hugs.
I did think about pm'ing you but someone else might find this useful / supportive too one day. I am not 100% sure what a quad test is but it sounds very much the same as the combined test I had at 12/13 weeks (background risk, NT scan and bloods). I was given a risk of 1:63, the background was 1:321 (I was the ripe old age of 35 at this point), the NT 1:1607 but the bloods really messed it up at 1:11. Do you know / could you ask for a breakdown of what the various risks are as this could help with your decision and amnio may not be the only option (sorry couldn;t see how many weeks you are). Don't worry one bit about taking up time on your appointment to talk through everything, if something isn't clear, ask ask and ask again - yes, everyone, we all know its bldy annoying when you are waiting for a late appointment but it is quite likely that the person before you really needed that time / support at a time like this. Our consultant went through the options of cvs now, amnio later after the 20 week scan or nothing - we had a very short window for the cvs as was 13+ by this point. Because it was the bloods and only one part of them (papp-a) that was "abnormal", while this was indicative of chromosonal problems, it also is linked to placental function and given the other risks the consultant was inclined to think it was in my case the latter but obviously couldn't guarantee it without invasive testing - this really helped us make our decision of waiting for the 20 week anomaly scan and decide on amnio or not at that point. No one can decide that for you but it may not be your only choice. We decided not to and I still don't know at 34 weeks if 100% there are no chromosonal problems - all the scans seem to indicate not and that 1:63 risk means that we have 62:63 chance or over 98% chance of there being no chromosonal problems at all. I hope you managed to get some sleep -4am is a bleak time of the day when it's a rough time. I hope that some of this helps and your appointment helps you.
Thankyou so much for the info and taking the time to share your experiance ,I have found it really informative and helpfull.
I am under the impression that the as the triple test measure 3 factors the quad measures 4
I am 38 yr old so am hoping its just my age factor that has pushed the risk up but will know later this afternoon
I am 16 weeks and 5 days,so think its too late with the cvs .
I already have a 4 year old but didn't have any tests with him sometimes think ignorance is bliss
I love your outlook on things and feel much more positive after reading your post ,I will update and once again thankyou soo very much you have made the differance to my day :A0 -

I'm on my day off today as I'm off to the theatre with my Mum tonight.
Good job really as I woke up feeling shocking (got the tail end of a cold) so went back to sleep until 11 and much better now lol!
Been a bit naughty and had an out of date oatibix porride, but I can't see what coud possibly go out of date and do any damage in something dried like that? Feel sick now tho....but that might be down to the chocolate hobnobs I had while I was waiting lol
I'm glad some people with experience have replied to you jopsey, saw your post last night and my heart went out to you. I think you might be right and it could definitely be your age pushing the risk up.
I've just booked my 16 week midwife appointment for next month when I'll be having my 4 point test...going to be a long 4 weeks!Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -

Sj your cakes look lovely
wish I lived in leeds lol
I want to have a slight moan about mam lol
I was on the phone to her before, and we were talking about the weather (exciting I know lol) and apparantly its going to rain here from tomorrow, so I said that, and she said "oh that will be right, when I have to get the bus to work in the morning"
Now I got totally upset and annoyed straight away, I am going for my 20 week scan tomorrow morning so I cant bring her to work in the morning like we normally do, she shouldnt be making me feel bad about it though
Its like she doesnt appreciate how much extra we do for her, like we dont live in the same town as her
So we have to leave the house at 6.20am to get her on the way to work and get us both here for 7am (we dont have to start at that time that just what time the flexi clocks let you start) and she complains all the time when we are a little bit late meaning we dont get to work till 7.10am
I really dont think she appreciates how much extra time and money (petrol) it costs us to get her here to work? she doesnt work a monday so on a monday we dont leave the house till 6.40 and I still get to work for 7am, so it takes an extra 20 minutes just to pick her up on the way
And OH isnt happy cos we are a little bit skint, and mam doesnt pay petrol (I just cant ask her, I think she would pay but I always told her she didnt have to pay so I feel bad asking her now)
There is a special bus you can get to work but it costs £3.50 each way!!!!
I am scared/worried about what is going to happen when I am on maternity leave, OH originally said he would still take her (I dont think we told her this yet though) but a few weeks ago he said he didnt want to anymore, which left me in a panic, I am planning on being off work from Feb 10 - Jan 11 so thats a long time
The main problem I think is where she lives, it takes us so much more time and money to get her here than it would if she lived the same place as me, she has got her house up for sale cos she is trying to move to where we live, so I think ocne she is there then its ok, OH cant complain about the extra petrol and we wont have to leave the house reallly early cos she can just walk along to our house and leave with us in the morning
Sorry for the length I amjust ranting, you knwo I am so happy about my scan tomorrow, I dont need her saying stupid stuff like "Im going to get wet tomorrow!"Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)
