hello everyone, may I join in? I am max, mum to two girls aged 4 and 3 and one boy aged 1 on the 6th of this month. I am due our second boy, fourth and final baby on the 20th of feb, though I will no doubt go a few days early like my last lot. With my first i was 2 days early, second 3 days early, third 4 days early....so hopefully Noah will be five days early lol!
This is the only pregnancy that hasnt been entirely smooth, I was diagnosed with a low lying placenta at 15 weeks after having quite a few bleeds. I pushed for a twenty week scan as where i come from they arent routine, good job I did as at that scan they discovered they had misdiagnosed me and I actually had a partial placental abruption. Luckily its only slight and hasnt harmed Noah in any way, I do have to be careful though and will be scanned again at the end of this month to check the abruption hasnt got any worse. It was at this scan they also had a look at the gender for me, we are both over the moon to be so lucky to have a boy and make it two of each. But no more...I am only twenty five, four under five is plenty :O:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0 -

JHA - I haven't tried travel sickness bands but I was going to ask about travel sickness tablets. Not sure if they're safe. We're doing a long car journey to visit my family in Somerset and Friday and I'm worried how I'm going to cope with the sickness.
I may have to drag myself into boots later and see whats what.
Welcome Mumslave!

I dont think they are safe in pregnancy, but it was a while ago that my friend was looking into that, as in four years back so maybe things have changed lol. You can get the sea bands from the herbal shops, they are meant to help motion sickness:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0

Just sneaking back in here from the parenting thread ...all the scans seem to indicate not and that 1:63 risk means that we have 62:63 chance or over 98% chance of there being no chromosonal problems at all.
This is a very positive attitude, and is the same as the outlook we took on our results - my triple test showed a 1 in 5 chance of chromosome problems, but to us that was an 80% chance of a baby without these problems. Post-birth testing showed that Andrew is clear.Because it was the bloods and only one part of them (papp-a) that was "abnormal", while this was indicative of chromosonal problems, it also is linked to placental function and given the other risks the consultant was inclined to think it was in my case the latter but obviously couldn't guarantee it without invasive testing
Interesting about the link to placental function, as this was my major health issue during pregnancy, and the reason for Andrew's early appearance.
On a similar note, my regular monitoring at the Placenta Clinic showed that baby had a short FL. Normally this is considered a soft marker for Downs, but my consultant has recently admitted that many of the Clinic's babies are showing short FL but no subsequent chromosome problems; and he is going to report (in his research) that he feels short FL shouldn't be considered a soft marker if the baby has IUGR.
*wanders back out of the preggie thread now ......:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
