  • Thanks for your thoughts on bowel issues guys! Going to try taking the pregnacare later in the day and see if that helps.

Does anybody have any experience of taking part in pregnancy studies? With my appointment for 12 week scan I recieved a letter asking if I would take part in a study that is being done by University of Cambridge. It is to identify new tests to predict which women will have complicated pregnancies. I would get 2 extra scans at 28 and 36 weeks and extra measurements would be taken at 20 weeks. They also take a swab from DH and then samples of placenta and cord blood after the birth. The main downside I can see at the mo is that I would have to have extra blood tests.

    Any thoughts of experiences?

Personally I would definitely participate in something like that. Firstly you'll get to see bubs twice more than usual, and secondly (and most importantly) you could be helping with really important medical progress.

On a completely self-indulgent note my stretch marks seem to have doubled over night! I wonder if it could be as bubs has dropped, as the new ones are around the bottom of my bump? Who knows.....

  • Hey ladies!!! :D

Thanks to jha and GISI for worrying about me!!! :o

Im fine though, desperatly trying to sort the house out ready for the move on monday in between the major stomach pains im getting but its pretty normal for what i have got :(
But it means that everything is getting done a lot slower than i would like it to be done :(

I still have my bedroom left to pack and the kitchen and just generally the odds n sods left laying around the house but it feels like loads :( especially when i only seem to be able to do little things at a time :(

I spoke to my GP about what they said at the 4d scan and he said because i had it with DD2 i should be ok to hang on until i see the midwife next as i know the signs to look out for etc and that i should be taking it easy ~ :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
But basically i just need to becareful what i do and dont do at the moment as basically anything could happen anyday nw fingers crossed that it doesnt though :o

I actually went and looked at the new house 2 days ago  and the previous tenant had left it in a right mess and the landlord said he had no way of getting anyone in to clear it out and clean it before monday  with the van booked and everything else i started to panic though the previous tenant rang him and said she was going to clear it out and clean it yesterday and im supposed to be getting the keys today yet there is no sign of them as yet

But i have this awful feeling im going to have to go in this weekend and clean it all properly aswell as pack the rest of the house up

Need to ring the landlord in a minute to find out what is happening

I really dont have the time to sit and read through all the missed posts but i really hope your all doing ok and as soon as i get a chance to get back on here properly i will be back and wanting to know all the gossip :D

Send labour vibes to those that want them, get better soon wishes and hugs to those who need them and congrats to all those that deserve them :D

Weezl you did make me laugh :rotfl:

I had a poo during labour too :o I didn't realise at the time as I'd had an epidural but OH had great pleasure in telling me about it later! He said the midwife got rid of it before I'd even realised, bless her.

Just got a call from the EPU, scan is definitely going to be Monday :( it's going to be a long weeked! Appointment is at 11.50. I'm going to take it very easy and try to stay positive. Hope everyone has great weekends, will be popping in & out to catch up with you all xx

Yay for getting a scan at least! Try and keep yourself busy over the weekend.

My scan is monday to, seems forever away doesn't it? Only 3 sleeps :)

Where you having it if you dont mind me asking? QA or St Marys?

Hullo! Glad to hear from you PP, was starting to wonder where you were!

Awww my DH got a huge #1 Dad Toblerone bar in the post today even though baby's not due til December! It's on an MSE thread somewhere if anyone's interested...it's an old thread so I wasn't sure if they were still doing them but clearly they still are. He's promised to share it with me, hehe.

Had 1st antenatal this arvo...was good, though I'm a geek and have already read ever book on birth known to mankind so didn't really tell me anything new. Was happy that people actually gave intelligent answers & asked intelligent questions b/c other people have reported a class full of numpties before with NHS ones.

Trying to figure out what to make for dinner, ho hum! (but enjoying being home from work 2 hrs early) Have a meal plan but only realised today that somehow overlooked today's key ingredient in the shopping, oops! Time for quick improv.

elasti - you really have been the MSE queen today, thanks so much for all your links on nappy vouchers, etc.

muso - personally I'd do it as a) can't hurt; b) you get to see bubs more; c) important medical research could help women in the future.

Aww princess sorry you are so stressed out. The landlord really ought to get someone in to clean up, it's his responsibility if the previous tenant has left it a mess.

I'm home from work now, whoop whoop! Oh my god I just realised I'm finishing work in 11 weeks! That doesn't sound like long at all!

gill yours does look like a proper baby and mine is just a bean (with some stumps). Such a difference. lovely pic x

I had a scan at 8 weeks too so it's really nice to see the difference between the two.

Overall the scan experience was better at 8 weeks I think. I was expecting the worst with that so it was amazing, and she let us hear the heartbeat as well which was incredible.

This time they were a member of staff down so was quite rushed and the sonnographer was a bit snappy. She told me off coz my bladder was too full (I'd been waiting for over 40 mins!!!) and was a bit snappy with us coz we had already bought our picture tokens when we were supposed to wait till afterwards! Was so lovely to see baby though and know that everything is still ok :)

PP, my DH is an estate agent (one of the good guys, promise!) so if you need any advice, just PM me. Hopefully it turns out well without hassle, though.
