nicky - good points, plus it's better to stock when things are discounted like the 1/3 off at Sbury's right now. Why pay full price later on??
I'm trying to guesstimate how many disposables to buy before we'll 100% be on reusables. I want to use them straight away but I also realise that may be unrealistic with us as 1st time parents especially if baby is really fussy early on. I'm hoping only to use disposables really for the 1st week so I hope this isn't too ambitious!!
Weezl & anyone else who's done reusable wipes...do you just keep a pile of dry ones and then wet them with a spray bottle as needed or what? I would think pre-wetting would make them all manky!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Yep, pre-wetting was not a success. But I'm not organised enough to have a spray bottle! I just run it under a warm tap! :rotfl:
Kristal has used lotion/water in a spray bottle tho, I'll ask her how it's going

Oh no Weezl what an ar*e - presumably you've explained the financial impact her saving of a few hundred pounds will make? Is she doing it for any reason other than business cost, i.e. you going off on maternity again? Is it a big company?
Talking of work, I just had a phone call from the last company I did work for, asking me to tie off some loose ends. Could throttle them, not been paid by them for 2 months now and they want free work from me - surely any loose ends they wanted to query should've been done when I left. Humph.
Hoping our baby won't be massive like me & my brother & sis were, as OH was tiny as were his siblingsI'd rather have a big baby than a tiny one - so it seems more robust
On the talk of nappies/wipes - I'm planning to buy wipes when the time comes, or maybe just a few weeks before baby arrives, unless I see a mega bargain. Nappies - mum has bought about 6 packs of size 1's and of size 2's for me, not really sure whether they'll get used but if not I'll either try and swap them at Asda or car boot them?! Not really sure what else you'd do with unused nappies? They were such a bargain I don't think mum would care - only 97p a pack in Sainsburys reduced from £4 oddBaby Boy arrived March 25th 2010 - 17 days late & 8lb 10oz :j0 -
Had 18 packs of wipes but opened one already so down to 17, not planning on buying any more tho (except maybe some of the yummy lavender/bamboo ones at the baby show this weekend), I'm gonna go with re usable wipes. Nappies will be using Nature ones, altho may look at the eco nappies in Sainsburys. Not so urgent to stock pile as MIL has offered to buy ours and we dont have the space, altho so far have 6 packs at her house hehe. Really not sure about sizes tho! We arent allowed discount on nappies at work, which really sux! So am trying to save MIL money by shopping about.
Having a few pains this evening so thinking maybe bubs has worked herself into an odd position, altho it is easing now. Also have a headache threateningmy first in nearly 3 weeks. But then again having issues with sleep again so should have expected it. May go chill on the sofa for 15 min then call it a night.
weezl - sorry to here about your sucky manager, we have major upheavels with management leaving/starting atm and its really getting to me so I sympathise.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

Evening all,
I haven't been on for a while because I have been busy "nesting"!
And trying everything under the sun to try and get bump to get a move on!
Anyway, have been for a sweep today (got to be the most unpleasant thing I have ever experienced in my life!!!) and I think it has triggered something off... Have been having a lot of back ache and some tightenings, and also a couple of (TMI) "clearing out" bowel movements! What do you all reckon? Is this the start?
I do hope so! :T
Anyway, not had chance to catch up properly yet but labour vibes to those who need them and hello to any newbies! :j
Will try and catch up now!

Gill - how rude of your manager to let on when she'd been told in confidence, does she know you know she told yet?
No, she was meant to be doing a store visit with one my good friend who works for the same company today, and she was going to drop it in, but unf she changed her plans and didnt go there today. I'm tempted to say something when I speak to her but will have to be careful how I do it.
Mrs Ihenetu - I went to the doctor at 5 weeks and was told to make an appointment with the midwife while I was there. I got an appointment for the following week so saw her at 6 weeks
weezl - sorry to hear you're having problems at work. What are KIT days?
I had my sausage roll todayit was 58p for one or 4 for 2.10
I have to take an early morning urine sample to my 11 wk scan on fri. Does it need to be fresh (ie from fri) or can i do it tomorrow incase i forget on fri?Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Labour vibes cheapskate and anyone else who wants them! I don't want any til gone Friday now! My mispriced mattress from the grabbit board is finally coming on fri (ordered early sept). Then I will no longer have to endure the horrible earthquake that comes with OH's every movement with the one we currently have. I'm so excited! Aren't I sad? I hope my waters don't go on it on the first night!
My due date is the day after my dad's birthday but I think I'll be using his name for LO's middle name whatever day he comes.
Trying to post from my phone again so hope this makes sense! Hope you're all having a good day and hugs to those who aren't x
:rotfl:At the earthquake!
DH's granny passed away last October and we are sing her name, Ruth, as a middle name if we have a girl.
And it made perfect sense!!
Oh, and your waters will definitely break on the new mattress, t'is the law of the sod!!
Ah sorry, I posted on the parent thread and JHA consoled me.
PS... having been a biggish baby is only a birth issue if it puts you in a risk category for shoulder dystocia, and that's normally for women who were a first-born and weighed more than 10lb. There's apparently no evidence that women report more or less pain in births varying hugely in weights. I really hope that's reassuring
I'd seen your post on the parent thread, that really is crappy. I hope you can sort it out in some way.
And that is reassuring. I always assume that a bigger baby = more pain at birth, but then thinking about it, if it hurts so much anyway, how can it possibly hurt any more?!madwoman85 wrote: »Evening all,

Sounds like it might be!!! Massive labour vibes on their way! And to everyone else who wants them. ETA: don;t quote me on that though as this is my first time so I am just guessing!!!!!0 -
Hi all, Im gonna try the backwards catch up again in a min so hope you are all well.
Well I had my 36 wk scan to check about my placenta today, she did an internal scan too to be sure but they have said it has moved and is not in the way, so looks like it should be a natural birth for me, which I am quite pleased about. She said baby is head down and in the correct position, but not engaged yet. Also he is growing well.
Only thing we did notice when looking at the notes afterwards, is that the head circumference and abdominal circumference are spot on on the average growth line, however the femur length is a bit below the average growth line. Do you think this is anything to worry about?Baby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -
fattybooboo :jI am so glad the placenta has moved - what a relief& baby is head down - yay:j

Yey I knew those placenta-moving vibes would do the trick lol!
I wouldn't worry if the measurements are all in the normal range, everyone's proportions are slightly different.0
