Hooray success ! Don't bother with 0800 008800 as they tell you to. Use 0800 005500 as Stompa recommends. Wait till you get through to a real person, took about 10 mins this morning.

Success here too with that new number, waited less than a minute to get through to someone.

    Thanks Stompa :)

think you must have your own personal hotline to them Stompa.
I wish I had. The annoying thing is that since I'm not a 'new customer' I can't actually apply for one of these accounts.

  • I've opened one of these accounts. After reading some of the posts here i thought it would be a long wait on the phone however it only take 15 minutes and then sorted. The only problem i have had with them so far is slow on putting money into the account :)

I transferred some money online from Nationwide last Thursday midday - and its appeared in my Citibank account today, even though it said it would take 3-5 working days. So far I'm impressed.

    That is 3 working days.

I had assumed it meant 3 'full' working days. To my mind midday thursday to lunchtime today is not 3 full working days - anyway I'm still happy.

    It's the normal BACs cycle.
Day 1 is the day you sent it day 3 is the day it arrived.

I'm genuinely amazed at the number of respondants to this thread who are grateful and appreciative that Citibank has condescended to take their money after all the hassle of the set-up for most. Some good, self congratulory reports from those who got through by phone in less than 5 minutes. Kinda like Citibank has honoured us by accepting me and my money. Anyone checked the process for account closure when Citibank drops down in the league of fraction of percentage points interest advantage? How fast can you move your money?

Or perhaps some of us have merely been 'reporting back' on our experience of opening an account in an effort to provide a balanced picture.

Not grateful, appreciative or self congratulatory at all, simply can't change the fact that personally, (so far) I have not been particularly unhappy with the service provided.

At least most have added something constructive to the thread I think.
