:mad:Well OH has informed me that he is off out tonight to practice darts for tomorows match so my talk about going out less obviously didnt work! He just has no control over money. If its in hios pocket he will spend it not even thinking about what need to be paid for. All of the household bills come out of my account so that i can garentee they have been paid. I did suggest that i give him an allowance each week and that will help him to save but he was dead against this as its 'His money'. sorry just needed to rant a littleMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190

Last nights outing for OH was cancelled so we looked further into the finances. He owns a 3rd car from prior 'recovery truck' which has been sitting in his friends garage (i thought it had gone!). This has now been sold but the friend buying it wont have money until end of month but £600 is on its ways.
Right that was the good news. Today some payments went from my bank account and this has taken me £5 over my overdraft limit. Just spoken to the bank and they are not charging me for this but if it goes any further over, they will charge me £25 per transaction. the next DD is due to go out on the 9th so i dont have long to gather in some money. I knew it was going to be really tight but didnt calculate it to be this bad.
Anyway i have chased some money from people i have done work for and that have not paid yet so hopefully that will come in before DD goes out and OH's payday (15th) or we will have no fresh food. Plenty of frozen food in the freezers but no milk for little ones. I have also got a couple of small jobs for people that should bring in £25 each so will get those done tonight and send them off tomorrow so thats another £50, so we should be ok?
Sorry for yet another rant, but it is useful to write things down on here just to straighten them in my head.Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -

Does hubby not have a fiver you could stick in the bank? If he was expecting to go out for the night he probably has got some money squirrelled away!!
Its a shame he hasn't had his LBM yet, maybe it will sink in and he will understand why you've suggested an 'allowance' rather than him keeping so much of the money, start hinting that you have no money for food etc and he will soon cotton on!!!
Good luck with ebay stuff

Thanks, i went to one of our local shops that sells our 2nd hand kids clothes for us for a small fee. I had £6.03 on their account so that will be in the bank 1st thing tomorrow morning. I think after last nights talk when i explained that if something wasnt done soon we could not afford the mortgage next month (slight exageration on my behalf but he does not know this) it hit home but still no LBM yet.
He asked if we had a tin for coppers earlier as he had 19p worth of change - i simply said ' oh we can buy a loaf of bread for the rest of the week with that!'Me, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -
i really wish OH would hand over his paycheck and let me give him his allowance. We could i am sure use his money so much more efficently. We would both be less stressed and lifestyle would be better (although i would not be spending huge amounts more). It would also make his money last longer as he does have a really bad habit of spending a months money either before payday or within the week he get paid. Sorry if it sounds greedy of meMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190

Doesn't sound greedy at all, in fact I would insist in it personally!!!
My OH did a couple hours extra gardening today so I came home to £20 more than he usually gives me per week, I didn't ask for it, it was just all sat on the mantelpiece waiting for me!!! Nearly fell over with shock!!!
Keep going at him, not nagging, but subtle hints, like the comment about bread etc, I think sometimes if they aren't the ones handling the budget they actually have no idea about money, its sounds to me that £20 to your hubby is a night out, but for you as family thats 1/2 the weeks food budget.........priorities are a bit screwy at the moment, but he'll get there in the end, just make sure theres no hot water when he comes in from a hard days work then say something like "Sorry, we can't afford to have the hot water on too much, you'll have to make do with a cold shower!!"
