Thank you for that. I will certainly look into it. We were overpaid benefits a few years back and they are taking a small amount off each year which will reduce if a little but not that much i wouldnt have thought. Yes my OH definately works more than 30 hours alone and i do about 14-16 a week.
The income that i have put down is the money i get from him rather than the actual wage he gets and he does keep some back for himself for petrol and his mobile but that again is not that much.

another 10p from free scratchcard. lots of housework to do this afternoon as busy this week with visitors and things. Must really get off here and start doing something. I have done 2 loads of washing that are now hanging on the line and dinner is in the slow cooker so not been completely lazy!

I don't think you're getting anywhere near enough benefits, I earn more than you both put together, have 2 older kids and get more in benefits, are you not working 30+ between you??

I just went on entitledto and used your SOA to approximate the answers and found that you should be getting £624 per month in WTC/CTC and then your £143 child benefit as well would be an extra £380 per month compared to what you are currently getting

Please look into this asap, I think you are being short changed!

Hi slm - this is exactly what I was thinking. I am SURE you should be getting way more than that.

:grin:Well very busy today. Lots to do so only a quick look on here - well will try to turn computer off in a min!

Cloverfan - i am already doing meal plans but occassionaly things change. Getting quite good at stretching food out. Cooked a joint of pork in the s.c the other night with full roast veg etc, and made curry the next day and still have a little left over. Like so many non mse people that would have previously gone in the bin, so i am getting there slowly.

I havent looked into the benefits yet. This will be a job for sunday when i have a little more time. I need to get hold of OH final salary for last year. He has however now gone over to mon-fri shifts which is slightly lower paid as no weekend suppliment added.

Right list of jobs to do today:

    scratchcard - 10p - done
Hospital bag ready for 2m - ds little op
DD bag ready for 2m - staying with nana for the day
DD Birthday cake made - ready for Sat - 4yrs old
Wedding outfit ironed - fri - dad getting remarried
Shoes found and wedding card written - for friday
Wash DS much loved cuddly toy ready for hosptial 2m - done
General tidy ready for everyone to come visit for DD birthday on sat

    busy busy.

Have a good day everyone and may see you before the weekend

  • You can give them the 08-09 figures but then tell them that his wages have reduced and give an estimate for this 09-10 tax year, they will adjust it accordingly. You need to do this straight away, according to my estimate you are losing £380 per month, even if your husband is keeping £100 per week of his wages (you said that your SOA is the amount he gives you and not what he earns) you are still entitled to about £100-150 per month more, so 'leaving it till sunday' is just like stepping outside and emptying your purse over a drain, which I assume you wouldn't do!!! GET IT SORTED TOMORROW!!!!!

You're chuffed with yourself for getting 10p on the scratchcard when you're entitled to about £5 per day in benefits, I just don't understand why its so low on your list of priorities.........

I am at the hopsital tomorrow with my son, my dads wedding is on friday and my daughters birthday on saturday. I may be able to fit it in friday or sat but tomorrow is just going to be far too busy. Son is nearly 2 and will not be a happy bunny when we eventually get home.

To be honnest i think i just need to ask OH for more of his paycheck which he will not like. I have put estimated figures in without dragging out his paperwork for last year and it is only slightly different, but as i say i will look at this properly when tomorow is out of the way. Thanks for your concern though

Just realised that the figures in SOA for benefits are for 4 weeks rather than 1 month. per calender month they equal £419.73 so a little better than previously thought but definately looking like the figures are right at the mo

  • Ok, do you mind me asking how much your hubby keeps for himself??

If you are struggling and you are getting all the benefits you can then he needs to give you more money!! If you let the tax credits know his wages have changed then you will have the extra money in the bank within a week, and from then on your payments will be increased, I know life if busy (we all have the same issues) but its such a shame that every day you miss you are losing out on money!

Just try and spend 30 minutes tomorrow evening sorting out the figures and then spend 10 minutes on the phone friday morning, its going to be well worth it!
