Morning everyone. Hope your all well. It was my birthday yesterday and i got a lot of nice things including some perfume which was great as i had run out just before christmas and refused to buy any. I got lots of money so that will be for my holiday, and my dad gave me a family day trip to centre parcs when i tell him when we want to go. I am thinking the summer holidays to make the most of all of the bits and pieces.

OH also paid for my dishwasher to finally be fitted :jonly problem is that it does not work.:( It was from freecycle and the gentleman giving it away said his son gave it to him but had not tested it out. Never mind, we are looking at other options and maybe i will get one soon, money permitting

I have been very good recently and not been buying too many things not on my list. My problem is that if i see something that is good for birthdays or christmas i buy it. Only problem is that it leaves me short for the week, but as its much cheaper than it will be come december for example it is better in the long run.

    Sorry for the ramble

Hi everyone, i am trying to fill the next hour as i have a dentist appointment and am such a nervous patient. I need to be distracted for a while. The only reasons that i am putting myself through this torture is that they promised me that they would refer me to the hospital for treatment if i booked an appointment 1st. Plus its NHS which around here is a novalty. My stomach is turning and i feel so queezy. Heart is pounding and appointment isnt until 2.25:(

  • gosh slm,

what a lot has been happening since ~i last popped in.

Glad you had a nice birthday. What a pain about the dishwasher. Have you tried a post on MSE about what's wrong with it as some one on here might be able to help. Our dishwasher wasnt working and OH fixed it, it was the catch on the door not clicking closed properly.

Lodger in garage is probably not a good idea. Helping the guy out for a week or two whilst he finds somewhere would be alright but long term, like you say, it's a family home and it would become awkward.

I have just been 'inspected' by an accommodation firm to take in european students for a local language school. That's £105 per child per week, half board and I've set up a twin room. I'm a tiny bit worried about it and how it might work but at least they are youngsters and the college back you up if there are problems. I've been warned about the russian teenagers, nice but like to drink!

I don't I will be joining you and suzy on the preg board:rotfl:but good luck with that.

Careful you don't time the morning sickness bit to clash with your holiday.

Well i return in one piece for now. I have been refered to the hospital to have 2 taken out as there is practically no tooth left on either. i dont mind this i would rather they knocked me out each time anything needed doing. I also have been refered to a dentist nearby that does fillings under sedation which i am a little unsure about as i will still be awake, but they assure me that i wont remember anything. I am now rewarding my braveness (ha ha) with a bar of choccy! my daughter gave me a sticker to - bless her.
They left me waiting an hour and then said i would have to see a different one to the one i registered with - this made me worse. Oh well at least its ovre today and they didnt once use that horrid little pokkie instrument on my teeth!

Dee thanks for popping by - it sometimes feels that i am the only one reading / writing on here. We have a new, well nearly new dishwasher on its way to us on monday from my step mum. cant wait and we know it is still working! The lodger has found somewhere else to live so all good there.

Anyway off to do some of the jobs that i was supposed to do earlier x

Hi everyone. Nothing much to report here other than my sister in law has just had a little baby boy - she was so overdue but he is finally here. It has however made me so broody its unbelivable and i havent even seen him yet. no signs of me being preg yet but i am late. preg test negative so not sure if my body has got back to normal yet after the iud but you never know.

Anyway i bought some summer clothes the other day in town - not very money saving i hear you cry, but i think i will only be keeping 2 vest tops costing £4 for the pair so not too bad.

Having a bit of an angry moment. my gas bill has just arrived and they are wacking up the payments from £38 to £57 per month. An extra £222 a year to find from somewhere. I have just got off the phone and they were extremely unhelpful or sypathetic to the situation. I told them that last year i used £388.71 worth of gas and that was before the dd discounts etc and i paid £462. Yes we have used slightly more over the snowy period but not £222 worth. I just dont see where they got their figures from. They also informed me that the electric dd would also be going up once the meter reader had visited. They said that they would review things again in July but obviously i will not be using much then and it will go down ready to be wacked up again in the winter - total stupidity.

Sorry to rant but it just doesnt add up

  • Hi sl(i)m,

Just had out gas and elec bills and the gas is less than expected but elec more. We are in a big old flat near the sea and my direct debits are £30 and £25. I'm expecting a reduction hopefully because whilst we had a cold January with all the snow we had a very midl autumn so no heating on till November.

Do you take meter readings. I was taking them daily, then weekly and now have relaxed because I now know what we are using.

Ooh about the teeth! I've got five broken teeth from grinding them in my sleep. Been repaired twice, nine injections last time and they have all broken again. I wish now that I had never come across sweeties ever, is not worth the pain. Back away from that chocolate bar:rotfl:.

Good news about dishwasher, you will wonder how you ever coped without one!

Hi dee, yes i have been taking meter reading and like you did not put the heating on for any great lengths of time. Also was way into nov when we gave in. Compared to last year we have used much less apart from the snowy week we had. Just still not sure where their increase has come from. I am on their fixed rate until nov 2011 so its not as if that is the reason why they are uping it.

Anyway not good about your teeth, i feel for you.

Dishwasher in a marvelous invention in my opinion and the kitchen is so tidy since i dont have washing up piling up on the surfaces until i get the urge to do it by hand!

  • Hello slm

I don't have a short-term, or quick fix solution, but I'd like to share my personal story with you, if that's ok.

A little over 5 years ago, I started my first Site Build It! site, and the first year I focused on getting content on the site - actually made small change in that first year, but that is not where my focus was.

In my second year the income grew (I had about 100 pages on my site, and had an ebook for sale). From my third year the income grew steadily, although I was actually doing less on my site. At this stage I don't think of my "site", but actually regard it as my online business. And the reality of this is that the past 2 years I've not very close to nothing on my site.

I've started my second Site Build It! site, and will be developing that over the next few months to a year.

I know a lady who also has an SBI! site, and similar to myself, her site "runs itself". She is using the income from the site to pay off debts, savings, and it is her goal to eventually have her site as her retirement fund.

The real for me with my SBI! site is that when I was laid off work the end of Sep last year, the income from my online business helped (and helps) us stay afloat.

One of the big attractions for me joining SBI! was the Action Guide - this "business manual" guided me, step-by-step, from choosing a site topic, to finding profitable keywords, building relationships with my visitors, all the way to methods and ideas for monetizing me site.

I must just mention that SBI! is not a quick fix solution, and it will take time and effort to build your online business, as that's what it's about: building an online business.

    I hope that helps.

    Best regards.

    HappyD
