Mrs E,
I cancelled the sky subscription 18 months ago, it came out of my bank account.
12 months later my husband signed upto sky and got the sky + box for £49.99 and free installation, and now it comes out of his account.
Try it and see.
The family are mutionous:rolleyes:
They want it all back asap:mad:
Thank you though.0 -
I phoned up to cancel last week and they offered me Sky sports free for 3 months and Sky movies for £5 pm until May 2010.0

Ok, ok, I can see I'm annoying you, I am only jokingI don't disagree with your reasons for having it, but it just seems alot of money to me.
You do get used to having normal tv again and it's not such a bad thing if you change now and again, you appreciate it more when you have it.
Not sure how old your kids are, maybe you could ask for a contribution every month if they earn money and want to watch sky?
Then they can see where their priorites with money really areFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
From another POV, its our family entertainment. Apart from a nice holiday & the odd meal out we don't spend anything else.
We don't drink, gamble, or anything like that.
We are not into UK day trips or theme parks.
So its fairly cheap entertainment when you look at it like that. DH likes the sports & he would much rather spend £80 & watch it at home than have to go to the pub to watch them.
We had HD package (but no multiroom). My son bought a plasma and asked about getting an HD box in his room. I thought an extra £20 on top of the £55 (or thereabouts) we were paying was too steep (i've since cancelled HD and sports). He already had an aerial socket (for loft aerial) in his bedroom. We bought a cable for £2+ from Tesco and connected his TV to the socket that was already in the wall - to say we were suprised when he got Sky was an understatement.Okay, he doesn't get HD, and he has to go into the livingroom to change the channel (but it's only across the hall) he can watch what's on the main Sky box.
Btw, he was going to pay the extra £20 a month, but when he found out he got it this way he was delighted. He's quite a tightwad (which is a good thing!)0 -

They wouldn't entertain it because they can only watch whats on the main box.
DH goes up to watch football, when I'm watching evening TV.
DD wants to be able to record god knows what.
I have that set up in the kitchen, so I can put come dine with me on while I make dinner:D0 -
I have cancelled, expecting to be offered a deal, but instead got a note saying I would be cut off on the 19th October.
I'll lose all my HD and PVR via the Sky box, so I'll have to go crawling back........
Will post any positive feedback!0 -
Any time I have ever had an issue with sky I have just told them I am cancelling my package completely, and by the time I have spoken to 2 or 3 people they tend to fold and give in, before you actually get to quit. When I moved I got free installation and a sky+ box for £20 as I kicked up a stink. They had originally quoted me £49.99 for everything, then when I phoned back they stated it was £149 and they had no record of me being quoted £49.99. I just said outright that they could cancel my package there and then and I got put through to someone else who was more than happy to do me a deal to keep me as a customer.0

I have been with them for about 10 years though, I dont know whether they are less willing to compromise with customers who have been with them less time?0
