UPDATE, see post 8:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Help me get a better deal with Sky:beer:

I [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] had a HD box in the living room, a + box in our bedroom & a normal box in DDs bedroom, the max package (sports, films, everything) + HD + multi-room x 2.

DD decided she wanted a + box.

So I rang sky & they said £49.99 & fitting free because of the multi-room subscription. DH said ask how much for a HD box, they said the same, OK says us, we'll have the HD box. They put us on their waiting list:rolleyes:

Got email to say contact them as box ready (took nearly 3 months).

Rang them tonight, they said it was over £200 + installation for the HD box:eek:, I said OK how much for the + box, nearly £200 + installation:eek::eek::eek:
They said they never could have done it for £49.99 & they can't now.
Those deals are for new customers only:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

So I cancelled my subscriptions to the bedroom boxes:D:D:D:D (cancelled multi-room). So all I have now is the top package & one HD box.

I did point out to them that I paid full whack for both the HD & + box as I bought them as soon as they came out, but all they said they could do, despite having the top package for donkeys years was offer me free line rental if I changed my phone to them:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

How do I go about getting another HD or + box at a reasonable rate:confused::confused::confused::confused:

    Did you get sky to do the install?

    Because I've only got one line from the dish to DDs room & I need two.
  • no i did it myself.
    I bought the twin cable from ebay for £3.00 for 15m the box cost £49.00.
    Its easy to fit as you have a dish already but do you have a quad lnb? with spare feeds?
    hard to advise as i dont know your set up

    I have two feeds from it to the living room, two to my bedroom & one to my daughters bedroom, so thats 5.
    So I'm guessing its a fairly big (multisocketed) LNB up there.

    I know they did come in 4 feeds, but mine must be bigger, whats the next size up?
  • If I were you I would ring back then ask to be put through to disconnections. They rarely offer anything till you get to that stage I usually get a good offer once a year from doing that :) you have to go through to that department

    I did disconnect
    When they told me all their offers were for "brand new customers" only, I had all the upstairs boxes disconnected.

    Their offer (after donkeys years of having the top package with Sky) was free line rental for a year if I switch my phone to them:rolleyes:

    So now all i have is sky in the living room, as offers are only to customers "new" to multiroom.

    Do you think I should ring back & say virgin have offered me a great multiroom deal so I want to disconnect the remaining box & move to virgin.

    Thing is, Virgin is not available where I live & they might know this from a postcode checker & know I'm lying:o

    Right, I rang them again & said I've decided to go to Virgin, they kept saying it was a shame, etc, etc, but they wouldn't budge on the price of a 2nd sky+ box. They said I've had an offer box from them (I paid full whack for my first + box & I got my HD box for half price £149.00 because I spend well over 1k on a tv from Currys!!).

    Despite the fact that I had the top package for donkies years & HD & 2 x multiroom, they let me cancle, it gets cut off in 31 days

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Help:confused:

    I can't get Virgin anyway:mad:
    Do you think they will ring me back:confused:

    They will almost certainly ring you back, they will not want to lose a good customer.

    However they will also know that you cannot get Virgin from your Post Code.;)

    I wouldn't bank on it. My parents cancelled sky the other month. I told them they probably get a good deal out of them but Sky cancelled the service with no quibbles, offered no sweeteners and didn't ever call back either.
  • They rarely phone you back, but when you do cancel then you will be a 'new customer' of course if you decide to go back to them
