  • sky only offer one discounted box per each type, thats why you would be charged 199 plus install for any further hd or + box you may want to get. that coupled with the fact that if you are a top teir customer then the offers in the turnaround department are limited, you would have been able to get the global offer of free sky talk line rental for a year should you have taken the line rental :)
  • I cancelled my Sky last December and got no offers to stay - I now make do with the Freesat channels that were left. It is mildly frustrating that I cannot get all the channels I used to have but I console myself by remembering how many of the shows were just repeats that I had already seen anyway.

I cancelled a couple of months ago, I asked them very nicely if they had any deals they could put me on, but the deal they offered was pap, so we went without for a few weeks, didn't do us any harm tbh, they then rang us and offered a half price deal for 6 months, so I took the offer.
They always ring me to offer something after I have been off for a while, I've been doing it for years.
To the OP, how much did your setup cost you a month? It must be horrific.

What deal have you got with them at the moment?

I just said, half price for six months, I was assured that I was not on a 12 month contract, I have been lied to twice by sky about that and I could never be bothered to try to go through all the channels to get the phone recordings checked to prove I was right. So this time I rang them back and spoke to someone else about it, checked I was on 6 months half price and checked I wasn't on a 12 month contract.
They never send anything out in writing saying exactly what you have, I'm sure many people get ripped off by them because of this.

From another POV, its our family entertainment. Apart from a nice holiday & the odd meal out we don't spend anything else.
We don't drink, gamble, or anything like that.
We are not into UK day trips or theme parks.

So its fairly cheap entertainment when you look at it like that. DH likes the sports & he would much rather spend £80 & watch it at home than have to go to the pub to watch them.

I have two feeds from it to the living room, two to my bedroom & one to my daughters bedroom, so thats 5.
So I'm guessing its a fairly big (multisocketed) LNB up there.

I know they did come in 4 feeds, but mine must be bigger, whats the next size up?

I've got the same as you. My LNB is an 8.

    Mrs E,

I cancelled the sky subscription 18 months ago, it came out of my bank account.

12 months later my husband signed upto sky and got the sky + box for £49.99 and free installation, and now it comes out of his account.

    Try it and see.
