  • Hi Everybody :hello:

9 for me please GG. And can I change my target to 27 days please? I know, I know, but I've got DD2's 16th tomorrow and DD1's 18th on Thursday, both days I won't be drinking any alcohol, but having family get-together on Sunday for DD1's 18th, and we'll be having a toast to DD1. Then I've got a 'do' on 21st November, tickets cost an arm and leg, they include a glass of champagne upon arrival, in true MSE form and all that, I don't want to waste it blah blah blah ...

And I'm on the 72 hour challenge pls HB.

I felt great at work today, having abstained from wine for over a week. I often feel tired on Mondays due to wine on Saturday night having affected my sleep.

Must get on, cake no 1 is decorated and presents wrapped. Going to put up some fairy lights now ...

    Have a good evening everybody

    xx

Snowy, well done :T the first and biggest step has now been taken to make yourself better:T it is a liberating feeling to admit you are powerless over alcohol, there is no shame in it and something that is incredibly common. You have taken a step that a lot of people will never do and unfortunately have to live in denial forever and with that comes depression and low self esteem plus a whole host of other horrible emotions. This being said, doesn't mean it's all downhill from here but you have support from all of us and with counselling you will be able to rationalise your drinking habits. I'm not entirely sure that telling your OT is a good idea at the moment, but that's me personally....depends who you work for and what sort of relationship you have with your co-workers?

Agree...not something that can be easily undone. If it realy helps you then I can see a reason for it but I'm not convinced.

The main thing to get your head round is that it's not a life fo suffering at all.

You're simply making a choice that works really well for you. THe silly thing is that society makes it more difficult and unusual than it should be....

P.s...just loved the hoo-haa with the ministers advisers gettign into trouble for speakign the truth about the dangers of booze....

    scary isn't it.

    right...off to work...

    take care everyone....

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I work for a very big organisation which has a very positive view of rehab: one of my colleagues had a substance abuse problem last year, and our employers were very understanding and helpful - they kept their job, came back with reduced hours, etc.

That said, I did have second thoughts about contacting Occ Health as the sauce hasn't to date affected my work. I think I'll hold off for the while and see how I go.

Sleeping really badly, massive sugar cravings, but I do feel very positive in myself this morning. I won't be drinking today.

6 afs for me please, GG.

  • Hello all.

Well after a really good weekend I had a bad day yesterday and wanted some wine. So I had two small glasses. And the conclusion? Overrated, I found myself not wanting to finish it and wishing I'd had a herbal tea!

Won't be drinking tonight as I am driving.

So do please tell - with these targets of days, are they meant to be consecutive? Like when people say 9 do they mean 9 in a row or just 9 in the month so far?

I think I'd really like to aim for 4 AF days a week.

Gotta rush off to childminders, just wanted to say to CA that the days pledged for the month are anytime within the month. Quite a few posters on here don't drink alcohol between Monday - Thursday but drink Thurs - Sun which makes it around 21 - 22 days of the month to be AF. Oh, just re-read your post, that sounds like what you would like to do :) Good luck.

Oh and Snowy, well done on your 6 AF days so far that really is a fantastic achievement (sounds ridiculous doesn't it, for some if they don't drink for months they wouldn't miss it but just to get to a week for others is almost traumatic!). Keep going, good point about the sugar rush, make sure you are well prepared for your wine/beer-bell time, have something there whether it be something sweet to eat or my preference is a 1.5 ltr bottle of Robinsons orange (sugar free ;)) squash, I get through that between 5-7pm which is my major bell time.

It's also useful to remember the HALT thing that GC/RA/Bis use on here. Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired. This came into force big time for me last night when driving home from Tesco at 6pm. I hadn't eaten ALL DAY  which put me in an irritable mood, I wasn't lonely but feeling very tired and generally carp, this made me want to drink. I downed about half a litre of squash as soon as I walked through the door and promptly all cravings disappeared!

    Good luck all.

Bis, lovely to see you posting, please don't go away for so long again xx

Gotta go, that was meant to be quick and I'm late, lucky I'm a touch-typer!

    xx
