10 for me please GG.
I have just finished the Marian Keyes book 'This Charming Man'.I thought the feelings and thoughts of the alcoholic were spot on.......I had forgotton alot of those and it brought them all back(arguements with self etc).......made me take another look at myself and realize I mustn't get complacent......it would be so easy to go back to that dark place again......very scary.
I hope you are all where you want to be today.
Take care of you

Hi...Long time no hear. Well done on the not drinking today :T Hope things are well
I was on my way to do the shopping yesterday when the bells started to ring before I was even there. My stomach was doing somersaults and I had butterflies when I thought to myself " My god what a silly situation to be in feeling like this when I am only going to get some beans " all because they sell beer there  I then came to the conclusion that I was not going to let this beat me and spoil my life and "I was in charge of me" not some stupid liquid.
And that is where I am today. Strong and resolute and not drinking Today
Talking of beans if you go to Mr T watch out. I had to buy 4 tins
34p a tin or a pack of 4 for £1.64.... Caught me out last week
take care0 -

Day at a time works for me (and many others) - that's why I never give a monthly target. All I can do is wake up and say to myself "I won't pick up a drink today" - and that's what I have done for the last 2+ years. However, I don't know about next week (I could be drinking) but for today at least, there is nothing that will make me pour alcohol down my throat.
24hrs is manageable for me - the thought of not drinking for a month/year/lifetime is too difficult to get my head round. But today I don't miss alcohol. I'll deal with tomorrow when tomorrow comes
these are wise words and I think that must be the route I take. the idea of never drinking again is, at the moment, appalling, but one day I can do. Especially if I look to the next day and what I have to get done, I can't have alcohol messing that up.
So I haven't drunk so far today and I won't have a drink before I go to bedTrying to keep in budget.

I won't be drinking tonight either

When I get fed up I think OK - well normally I drank everyday - did it like many for 10 years or so - now I think I have to be canny - cos drinking everyday would be really easy to slip back into for me............this year has taught me that. I have a few drinks with chums etc and then when home I end up drinking again.
Was wierd last night, at a gig especially having DS there, I don't normally drink now when I am out and barely at all when kids are about- the last gig I went to, three years ago we all got pretty drunk at the gig - and even now I regret it - was one of those embarrassing nights where you think Oh god.................there were alot of folk there drinking.............the hall when they finished was a sea of plastic beer cups.......................
Now just thinking how awesome the band was!
Full of grub - hope everyone is OK remember the HALT thingmy - glad folks keep mentioning it.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
