Was clearing out the kitchen cupboard and found a full can of stella that I had hidden from ages ago  I chucked it. Those reading/read This Charming Man would understand my horror

Well done on 10 days Jo and brilliant for dumping the can down the sink!
I can understand your dilema - there's a stashed an open half bottle of something at OH's which (whilst not normal behaviour I meant to dump it when I was down yesterday - its from a secret stash long ago) is not going to be easy to explain when the kitchen gets demolished over the next couple weeks for the new one to be put in.
I am thinking of asking my chum to pop in and to move it quietly and take it home - or dump it - claiming it might have fallen out of the baking box which was previously in that cupboard
but I might just confess to her as she knows I've been giving up.
Onwards, as long as its not drunk by me I don't care what fate it has.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Good idea. I have lots of booze in the house, but none of it is mine. In the past when I have purchased booze for the house (say for when people come over) and it doesn't get drunk, I have to get rid of it otherwise it 'calls' out to me. It doesn't seem a problem if other people buy it, but if I buy it, I feel entitled to it.
Thus I tell people that I won't supply the drink from now on - they can bring their own
People don't mind either - they know they are not coming to mine for a session anyway............
Thus I don't buy booze0 -
7 for me GG

Good Luck
ShaggyWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

So many people are in denial about the effect their drinking has on others (and themselves), but not you :T
I would hate my kids to think of me as a drunk, or someone who drinks to excess occasionally. That only would make me feel worse too.
Day at a time works for me (and many others) - that's why I never give a monthly target. All I can do is wake up and say to myself "I won't pick up a drink today" - and that's what I have done for the last 2+ years. However, I don't know about next week (I could be drinking) but for today at least, there is nothing that will make me pour alcohol down my throat.
24hrs is manageable for me - the thought of not drinking for a month/year/lifetime is too difficult to get my head round. But today I don't miss alcohol. I'll deal with tomorrow when tomorrow comes
well said again ,graeme.
and the strength of mind that comes through is really powerful...so strong that when you get used to it, it is really something.
the strength to be assertive, say no and do the right thing, got me, overlaps into so many areas of my life.
I do a day at a time too...although I'm pretty hopeful about the coming weeks too if you know what I mean! For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Hi and thanks to Jo for explaining how the AF days work. Hi to 69chick and Fay!
Well a funeral yesterday and a small glass of wine to toast at the meal. So not AF, but then I went out to meet old school friends in the evening - obviously no drink as I was driving.
Agree with you all who've said it's lovely going to bed sober and reading (and remembering what happened in the book!) and waking up without that brain squeeze feeling I've come to associate with morning!
Loving my herb teas - think I'll treat myself to some more varieties today!
Will be AF tonight.Wendy x0 -

I've ordered 'This charming man' from the library but can highly recommend 'Rachel's holiday' by Marian Keyes too. Deals with addiction.
Today i wont be drinking.LBM 10/08 £12510.74/0 -
Morning all  I am so pleased I managed to stay af last night, dh had a couple of beers and half a bottle of wine (altough I did stay upstairs with my hot choc and also ate a blue riband and a orange club biscuit so the diet not going so well
)
Anyway am feeling much more positive today am going to visit my lady that I voluteer to see each week this morning, havn't been able to see her for a few weeks due to one thing or another but am really looking forward to it..
I have absolutely loads and loads to get done by Friday (all off to a christening down south) so this is playing on my mind a bit, but then again af I am much more likely to get things done
Yesterday was a nightmare as I had all 3 of mine off Nursery/School as I found head lice in one of my girls first thing  so I kept them all off but they drove me crazy all day, I have treated her now though and the other 2 don't seem to have any so they have all been packed off to school today thank goodness....
I am going to M&S later today, have an invite to an 'event' apparantly they are doing that penny bazaar thing again, but no doubt there will be nothing left by the time I get there!! anyone else been to one of these events yet?
HB feel the same way about pasta, but unfortunately dh doesn't like it that much, he has to have his 'meat' so spag bol/lasagne ok, but I just like pasta with a sauce and some cheese with a side serving of spinach yum (my fave sauce at the moment apart from my home made is the lloyd grossman chilli one )
what a lot of waffle!!! sorry..better get myself sorted to go out now...
Have a great day all
