I find I put weight on when AF, I don't eat when drinking except for lunch, definately don't eat breakfast (unless you count coffee and headache tablets) and as soon as I've had my first mouthful of alcohol, my hunger has completely gone and I just drink and drink instead. Hence my weight decreasing rapidly over the past couple of years.

On the other hand, yesterday I was sober all day, didn't have brekkie due to hangover, had ham sarnie and cake for lunch, a huge plate of roast lamb, tatties, veg, yorkies for dinner followed by an entire bar of aero (and we are talking the large version, i.e. size of a dvd case :o) and half a pack of oreos. This would explain why when AF my weight balloons

Blimey. Dinner sounds yummy! Better to eat proper food than live off an endless round of coffee/headache tablets and drink, for sure...
I think they usually say that 3500 calories equals about a pound in weight so it's no wonder some of us our losing some pounds... (and others putting on).
I also read somewhere that drinking a lot of alcohol results in your bottom disappearing! As in the nice fat that keeps your bottom rounded! So if you have a flat/non-existent bottom then it's time to do something about it!

It was! Totally stuffed at the moment, had a ham sarnie for brekkie (not hungover see, can do brekkie then), and just eaten chicken curry and rice and choklit pudding and choklit sauce and I now need to sleep :undecided

  • Hi everyone.

One more AFD to my total please, YM - taking me to 16/27. :D

I started university today (mature student now - EEK!) and had a fabbo first day. Don't have to use my brain yet, as it's induction week and introductions to everything. Marvellous!

My brother rang me and said ,"You need to get totally p*ssed tonight 'coz you're a student again". I disagree of course, although at the moment my bells are ringing loudly and it feels like it would be great to have a few drinks, to celebrate this new chapter in my life.

But I'm not going to have a drink, I've got a pint of full fat coke beside me and I am going to beat my craving into submission - and that's how it's going to stay, wooohaa haa haaaaaaaaaaaa

After all, being sober is also a new chapter in my life and when it comes down to brass tacks, it's actually much more significant than a career change could ever be. It's often easy to forget how singularly important stopping drinking is.

    Hugs,
    Caz

    Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
    “You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
    Mary Stevenson, 1936

I love that. I was raised Christian (but I am not now) and I think that is beautiful.

I'm not AF tonight, I'm doing terribly this month, I have lots of emotional problems at moment. Hopefully I should get a few more days in AF before the end of September.
