I also had a phone call from them, but they didn't get as far as explaining what they wanted - cos they put the phone down when I tried to correct their pronouciation of my name and asked why they were calling before I answered the questions they went straight into about any credit cards I had! I was deeply unimpressed so was looking on the internet to complain - and came across this thread, so now I'm pleased I didn't reply to their impertinent questions!!0

This bunch of clowns have been hassling us rather a lot lately, in spite of us being registered with the TPS and MPS. Sounds like a typical advance fee fraud to me, but they seem to have been doing it for the past couple of years; I'm left wondering how come they're still operating.
Had 5 calls from them tonight and they wouldn't take no for an answer kept calling back even though I said I would not give any information to him. This person did not speak good English and was difficult to comprehend. He actually left me two messages as well after the phone callsl. I am 66 and do not like to be bullied and harrased. There must be some way of stopping these people. The phone number was 0845004423730 -
It's taken them a while to get round to me, by the looks. They called just now and I asked the chap whether he was familiar with the Telephone Preference List, pointing out that his company needed to check that before phoning the likes of me. This concept did seem to ring a bell with him, and he apologised for disturbing me. Let's see if he or a colleague disturbs me in that way any time soon. Probably!
They are quite obviously a scam (clue's in the £250 upfront thang). When did you put £250 upfront for anything without feeling a tad nervous, even in the best of hands?0 -
Me again. It all reminds me of that gentleman who called yesterday about a very important Government survey they were conducting, and could I please lower my pants as they needed to see my bottom. Don't give way to these fellows. The truth, I now realise, is that they ONLY WANT TO SEE YOUR BOTTOM!!
I feel so cheap and foolish!0 -
Had my first call from Toucan!
I was ever so excited, as they sounded soooo believeable, especially as they kept saying they believed I was using a credit card and etc etc
Er, nope, not the case, haven't done in many, many years, but didn't let them know, not just yet...
Kept them on the 'phone, just chatting, whilst I fired up the ol'trusty interweb, and found this forum
I would add that not for one moment did I think Toucan were anything but chancers, bless 'em, but it'd been a long morning - and there was clearly a little fun to be had for a few minutes in an otherwise stressy day
Toucan didn't believe that I had no credit cards, so I said it's true, I keep all my money in a box under the mattress
Silence at their end, if only for a moment
Still, give them their due, they were very persistent. They then changed tact and went on to say that they believed I had a mortgage, but, again, I had to say, no, not the case...
...but whilst they had been on the phone I said to them that I'd moved the money from under the mattress and put it in the shed at the bottom of the garden
All that was all thirsty work though, so I then offered them a tea, or coffee, as I was now putting the kettle on (that very last bit about the kettle was true)
I mentioned that, personally, I prefer coffee at this time of day, but I was going to be a bit busy now, so thanked them for their call
The pleasant, but weirdly persistant lady on the 'phone declined the tea, or coffee, but next time I have a few minutes to spare I'll be sure to offer them biscuits
Better still, might be time to become a JWitness and sell them the good lord...
Nah, next time might just tell them to f/off, but that seems just sooo rude
Manners maketh man and all that...
(ps Avoid them like the plague!
As far as can tell they offer nothing that any reasonable, reasonably sane person could possibly want - and that's said with apologies to those that have fallen for this, there but for the grace of etc...)0 -
I've also just had a call from these people.
I have contacted the MoJ as I think they should be deregulated.£2 Savers Club 2013 - £28

I like your style!
I thought your offering refreshments to the salesdroid was a nice touch.
You're welcome, glad it cheered someone else's day too
They really are scum though, but reading these various forums they seem well used to being told to f/off.
Personally, because they're scum, I prefer to waste THEIR time when I have the time to do so... but I'm just a beginner, there are far lengthier examples at 419eaterDOTcom/html/letters.htm and elsewhere.
Near the end of the 'chat' I did say to the Toucan / Tucan 'salesdroid' (like that word, shall use that again, cheers) that she should google her company name and see who she was really working for... and maybe she'll leave... but she DID seem scarily persistent.
The phrases "I believe you use a credit card" and, later, "I believe you have a mortgage" were repeated quite a lot.
As you might guess - as anonymous as all this is - I never actually answeredalthough later I did ask why she "believed" what she did... to which she continually sidestepped the question...
On reflection, she may well, perhaps, be laughing this off down the pub. I hope she finds her conscience though, gets a different job elsewhere, and encourages all that she can to spread the word that, as said by others earlier
<ahem>
Toucan play this game
(And why post all this stupidity?
Hopefully someone somewhere will remember and do much the same as everyone else here on this forum - and, slowly, the likes of Toucan / Tucan will have no choice but to crawl back under the rock from where they came.
No offence to bugs etc, obviously, there but for the grace of karma go I etc...)0 -
They said they were from Toucan Claims (and I had to make him spell it out so it was definitely them - I then found this thread when I Googled the name). The story this time was that everyone is supposed to receive some sort of letter before your credit amount on your credit card was increased however before 2007 no-one received these letters and we could make compensation claims. It sounded completely fishy ...QUOTE]
I received a similar call but the spelling was Tucan Claims and he gave me the address which ties in with Companies House (Company No. 07140556). The company is 18 months old but no accounts have been filed yet. A similar thread is running on Tucan Claims.
The advisor claimed the company was regulated, but was unable to tell me by whom! Watch out - they may post the regulation details on a bogus "regulator" website.
Since I've not lost any money, even if my credit limit has been increased, I see no reason why the bank should pay me a minimum of £1,200. I won't add to their administration workload.
In order to make the claim Tucan will need your credit card details. I'm not prepared to give my details out to a complete stranger, are you?0 -
dont touch this out fit they just keep asking for more money then threaten you with cancellation fee when you try to leave:(0
