my visa card limit has been increased without my permission and they can claim compensation for me.

Which as you know from posts is completely untrue and not a valid reason.
I spoke to the senior litigation manager ( yeah right ) he couldnt answer the questions either.

It is actually against the rules to cold call where the possibility of legal action is required. Most claims companies do not have anyone with any legal qualifications working for them. So, this was either a rule breach or a completely false title.
apparently, they ( the message didnt say who "they" are) are authorised by the MINISTER OF JUSTICE???? always thought this type of company were governed by the Financial Services Authourity.. who I shall be calling next along with trading standards.

it is rather daft but claims companies are not regulated by the FSA. They are regulated by the MoJ. This means that people that are not authorised to recommend financial products and/or have a proven level of knowledge about them are authorised to put in complaints about those financial products and the processes involved. The MoJ regulation is very little touch and has very few standards. It is very much like financial services itself was back in the early 80s before proper regulation started.
so, they may be legit but its still a Cold call trying to find new customers....

Being regulated by the MoJ is easy. You yourself could be up and running as a claims firm in about 2 weeks as could virtually everyone posting on these boards.

  • I was contacted by this company and told much the same as everyone else. I allowed them to send some paperwork/forms in the post for me to read and check out. They seem to say that I will be liable for their fees myself and don't say they will come out of the compensation but will be enforsable 14 days from date of their invoice. It does not say that if I don't win there will be no fee liable and at "£50 per hour or part there of" looks like any compensation will be eaten up completely or I will have an extra debt!
Their rep is calling me back this afternoon for my decision and I will be saying a resounding
    NO!

Also been bothered by these scummers today, quickly checked them out and next time they rang told them rather firmly to bee off, and that I was registered with TPS, hope this is not going to start being a regular thing with them and other awful companies like them.
Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:

We are not all fools and not trying to rip off card companys, some of our complaints are just, tucan claims were suppose to help genuine cases and are clearly ripping people off, there should be something out there that can help people get their money back. Some elderly people are very easily duped into this sort of thing through no fault of their own,for some their only income is their pension and someone must know where this company is based.Iwould be happy to put a positive message on this site for tucan claims if i had one.

The guy who phoned me said they were based in Aztec West, Bristol. They are sending me something through the post but I won't be sending them any money after reading all these comments.
  • Just had these jokers on the phone, claiming they can get refunds upto 15 years old !!!

Also claims that this is a government initiative on behalf of the "ministry of justice". There is no reference to the refunds or any act or bill on their website.

This area lies with the Financial Services Authority.

Gave them a piece of mind. They hung up.

I just got a call from 'Manesh' at Toucan, saying I was shortly going to receive some money because the credit card company put up my credit limit without my permission - at this point he read some official-sounding legalese to confirm that it was claimable. When I asked him which card it was, he said it was the Visa card on my bank account (I do have a Visa card). When I asked more questions, e.g. which bank, & how he knew, he immediately put the phone down.

I'm with the TPS,which is just ignored by these rip-off merchants and scammers. Unfortunately I didn't get enough information to report this call.

This bunch of clowns have been hassling us rather a lot lately, in spite of us being registered with the TPS and MPS. Sounds like a typical advance fee fraud to me, but they seem to have been doing it for the past couple of years; I'm left wondering how come they're still operating.
  • Been hassled by these guys but alarm bells rang when they wanted my security code for credit cards to do some 'digging' for me. Also that they said they could claim up to 25 years back.

Had some fun with them then after doing some research myself.

I told them about 3 separate car loans from Yes, let them tell me how extortionate these loans were, how much I had been wronged, miss-sold and that I could get back thousands. I questioned how they could get the money from a company who did not exist anymore. They explained that it didn't matter and the crooks that were Yes would still be accountable.

I played out this a bit more and indeed they took the bait, telling me how, in hindsight one should never have done business with the likes of Yes.

Thank you for telling me not to deal with your company, I said when pointing out Mel Roberts' involvement, or his daughters name. A different Mel Roberts they explained.

LMAO, you are going to sue yourselves for thousands are you? And give it to me for a 10% cut. Idiots.
  • My Mother's had calls from Toucan recently. She has caller display and her own number came up on the display , so I was suspicious from the start. The caller said it was about her credit card insurance. She has never had a credit card in her life! I pointed this out to the caller, told him to take her details off his list, and not to call again or I would ring the police. He rang back twice from 08450044237 and then put the phone down. Scams such as these often originate from organised crime groups who have a 'victims' list - a list of the elderly, infirm & widowed. As the electoral roll will show up 'deceased' beside a name, its a good way for them to hunt down the bereaved just for starters. For anyone to offer you genuine financial help, you would have to contact them first, and you certainly wouldn't have to pay them anything up front.
